The Plot Twist I Didn’t See Coming…
Last year when I lost my studio production management job, I knew I had a decision to make quickly.
Home studio?
Or become a studio owner?
What felt uncertain at first became one of the most transformative seasons of my life. It’s been an AMAZING journey.
The greatest gift this year hasn’t just been building a space, it’s been building community. Collaborating with other creatives. Teaching portrait workshops in different spaces. Stretching ourselves beyond what feels comfortable. Watching artists grow in real time.
And adding a videographer @spoesty into the mix? Game changer. Seeing our work come alive in motion adds a whole new layer of storytelling and value.
This clip from our last Portraits with Kambua, featuring the incredibly talented @schnabl.space captures exactly what I love most the joy of creating and learning together.
There is nothing like a room full of creatives pushing light, shadow, and possibility.
And we’re doing it again in March.
If last year taught me anything, it’s this: When one door closes, build your own studio.
See you in March….

Chicago Photography Classes teamed up with Midnight Circus in the Parks! Our photographers captured the magic this summer as Midnight Circus brought world-class circus to Chicago Parks. Here’s the circus through @spoesty eyes.
@mncircus partners with parks and local community groups to bring circus to every corner of Chicago. A portion of proceeds go right back into the community, since 2007, Midnight Circus has raised nearly $2 million for Chicago Park Advisory Councils around the city funding playground renovations, neighborhood programming, park beautification, and more!
@chicagophotoclasses is a community of photographers, we provide education for photographers at all levels of their development.
