We had so much fun sharing our experience and love of the backcountry with another great group during our last Intro to Backcountry Clinic of the season at Sugarbush on Saturday. It was a beautiful day to be at the mountain! 🤩
We had a group of instructors from the CTA, @splitboardvt , and @mrvbcski , and once again, a mix of participants on splitboard, tele, and AT gear—some completely new to touring, and others looking for the tips and techniques to move from uphill touring at the resort to exploring more in the woods.
We hope to give folks the initial tools and information to build more confidence and knowledge to make good decisions when heading into the backcountry to ski and ride. We should all be able to experience access to the backcountry, but with that comes the responsibility to learn proper preparation, safety, etiquette, and ethics to take with us along the way.❄

This afternoon clinic will include a fun mix of indoor and outdoor discussions, demos and skills sessions, and a tour to put it all together on the skintrack! Hi Friends! Wanted to give you an update on SBVT for this season since we’ve been a little quiet.
First, it’s been a fun cup-filling adventure since we kicked things off way back in September of 2020. We honestly had no idea the friendships that we were going to make, adventures that were to be had, and the incredible amount of support, and generosity from the community that we would receive. We started this as a group of friends who just love Splitboarding and wanted to see others learn, grow and get out there and get after it! It’s been a blast putting on events like Vermont Splitboard Festival, the Womens’ Led Splitboard Series, Collaborations, Clinics, and Webinars.
If you’re reading this and you’ve helped or supported our efforts, either as an individual volunteering your time or the resorts, business and organization’s that helped our cause (it’s a really long list, to long to tag everyone) know that we are forever grateful and couldn’t have done it without you!
Having said that, we’ve had to dial it back this year, ya know, life changes. For those of you who have been asking about Vermont Splitboard Festival, we did try to make it happen this year, going for its 4th year running, but we weren’t able to pull it off in time. We’re uncertain what the future holds for that event, but Pico Hiko is alive and well in its 8th year running and that Splitfest only gets bigger and better! If you haven’t gotten your ticket yet it’s not too late!
SplitboardVT will continue to exist, just in a different capacity. Keep tagging us in your posts (we’ll re-share it), we love to see folks getting out and getting after it! We’ll keep content updated and share Split events that will be going on. And when we’re able to, we’ll be participating and collaborating with organizations like Catamount Trail Association. Have an idea that we can support let us know, we would love to chat.
We’re not saying goodbye or anything like that. We will still exist, just in a different capacity. We’ve enjoyed every minute of it for this thing we do shuffling up mountains to make some turns.

We tried to go 2 / 3 for insanely good snow at @middsnowbowl for Vermont Splitboard Festival and missed it by not even a day ❄️. While the snow wasn’t what it was in past years, the stoke for Splitboarding certainly was! Low snow, no problem!
With this being our third annual Vermont Splitboard Festival, it really is incredible to see the community come out in such strong numbers. We had over 50 registered participants attend. With generous donations from vendor partners for our end of day raffle, we were able to help raise almost $1000 for the @catamounttrail .
This event doesn’t happen without support from our volunteer guides, and the tremendous efforts of our all of your favorite Splitboard brands tented up, who are busy turning screws, talking shop, and setting up boards to help get you all out on snow.
