This is a special feature today. This album features Mike Wofford, who turned 86 yesterday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!!!
A while ago, I was searching for records and came across this one, and I wasn’t leaving without it. Mike, a legendary pianist local to San Diego, is easily one of the most incredible pianists I’ve had the pleasure of making music with, and those who have heard know what I’m talking about when Mike and his playing are mentioned. This is a very nicely composed album from 1976, that kept the style and spirt of Scott Joplin and James P. Johnson in mind, and conscious of keeping original musical elements in the forefront.
Feature on this album with Mike is Chuck Domanico on bass, and Shelly Manne on drums. The featured track is Frolic Of The Bears
