A couple of months ago Tim & I were asked to compose a song for a performance of A Christmas Carol
To be honest it put us both out of our comfort zone and definitely not something either of us has done before!
In the end, it was easy, we’re both made up with how the song sounds
Super surreal hearing it loud over a PA system in the top church in Mold on Friday night. It was an amazing performance by the Green Room actors and we were honoured to be involved
So guess this is Sphem’s first ever Christmas song 😂
We will eventually put this track up on all the streaming sites, here it is for now

This time a rather beautifully chilled edition with @sphelm__ to start (who are always incredible!), and two bands that were new to me. @catbandcat with a marvellously tight performance, an unexpected accordian (to me at least) and a lovely Westone Rail bass, you don’t see them often! Headlining were @melostme with some wonderful, brooding in places neo-folk. What a fantastic night!
The last Sphelm release was 9 years ago! After 2014’s Orenda EP and 2016’s These roots know no boundaries LP. We’re super proud to announce that on 19th September we’re releasing our first ever single ‘Ten a penny’ on @northernnoirrecords just 2 guitars, 2 vocals an a shaker. Here’s a lil teaser..
As well as all the usual streaming sites we will also be releasing this on @bandcamp as pay what you want and all proceeds from this track will go directly to @medicalaidpal
Currently tracking a load of songs, all completely acoustic and hope to have a full length album out in the near future, watch this space and tell ya mates.
