🦋✨Throwing it back to one of the most memorable performances I’ve shared with the audience, at @akousma , on October 16th 2024~
💜Memory Playback💜is a deeply personal piece—a reflection on how sound can hold our memories, yet reveal their fleeting nature as they blur, fade, and reshape over time. I’m beyond grateful that it resonated, winning a prize at the 2024 Concours de composition acousmatique petites formes.
Big thanks to the Akousma team and Louis Dufort @dufortlouis for the opportunity, to @caroline.campeau for the beautiful pictures (2-4-5-7), to @panm360 for their support and interest, —especially Alain Brunet for his interview and Salima Bouaraour @shadya_ckk for her wonderful review—and to @chez.kito.kat_records , whose upcoming cassette compilation inspired the birth of this composition. You can listen to my piece on their release or on my personal bandcamp~🌌✨

After 6 years of bathing in some strange comfort of structure, graduating from my bachelor’s in “computer music” feels like a grand relief laced with anxiety.

Psssst: we’re brewing a new album!! Excitinggg ><~
It still feels surreal to me that on April 8th, two years ago, I had the chance to witness a solar eclipse while listening to music I had composed specifically for it.
The process felt like composing for a film that didn’t exist yet. I had the script, the characters, the duration, i knew the story from beginning to end. But the images were inaccessible. I could only imagine, and try my best to tailor a composition to something i had never actually seen.
And then, during the eclipse, hearing the music with the event for the first time, it was like finally watching the film. It unfolded almost exactly as I had imagined, and yet felt completely different. It was infinitely more immersive and embodied, something impossible to anticipate. It was also one of the rare moments where i saw my dad smile out of pure amazement.
I felt a collection of novelty, completion, excitement, satisfaction. And layered on top of that, the awe of witnessing and being part of this astronomical event, my heart racing, from seeing the eclipse, hearing and sharing my music and speaking about it with ~3000 people, 5 minutes before the eclipse happened…
May i also mention that, it was composed in collaboration with Thomas Augustin, and i actually played those vibraphone lines (it’s not MIDI!). [Link in my linktree]
Thanks @domtibo.sound for the trust and the opportunity ~ and Université de Montréal for the funding and the commission.

Grateful for a break, for traveling, new friends, and simple pleasures. I’ve been thinking about how, if I were born a generation earlier, much of this—being an artist, traveling alone, having this kind of freedom—would’ve been nearly impossible. And knowing the current state of the world, where war is still a daily reality for some nations, I feel I have little to complain about. Still, it’s strange that it often takes comparison to notice our privilege—because while it can make us more thankful, it can also be a source of greed.
