My daughter Isla Noble is becoming quite the artist. She mainly works in sculpture and 3D design, though she also loves digital art. She comes up with a creative idea and, before I know it, has brought it to life.
I asked her to decorate this book to be used as a prop in a recent NobleMotion Dance performance. In less than thirty minutes, this is what she gave back to me. I love its free form, yet curated approach. She is very concerned with how color is used in design and has very definite opinions about what works for her and what doesn’t. The dance was “Free Rein” which ironically is about studying the creative brain in action. We should have put a brain cap on her during her creative spurt!
We decided to have the entire team sign the book. What a perfect way to celebrate the creativity and collaborative spirit that went into the creation of “Free Rein.”
Thank you Isla for your creative contribution!
More about “Free Rein”:
"Free Rein" (2026) consists of three pairs of movements---in each pair, one run-through is fixed, the other improvised--followed by a finale that alternates between scripted and improvised performance. Two dancers and one musician wear wireless mobile brain-body imaging equipment, enabling a real world study of the improvising brain. A research team under the direction of neuroscientist Anna Abraham and bioengineer Andrew Nordin analyze the brain data in real time, with visualizations for the audience designed by Badie Khaleghian. Choreography is by Andy Noble and Dionne Noble. Performers include Garrett Hudson, Maiko Sasaki, Nanki Chugh, Chelsea de Souza, conductor Molly Turner and more, and dancers of NobleMotion Dance, Deontay Gray, Reese Meredith, Tyler Orcutt, Jacob Regan, and Lauren Serrano. Performed at: The Hobby Center’s ExxonMobile “Discovery Series, in an evening presented by NobleMotion Dance and Musiqa at the MATCH, and De Lange Conference at Rice University.
