Bopping into the 5 boroughs yesterday, to see all of our city flower friends, on our 2026 season’s inaugural round of deliveries.
This one is near and dear to my heart. For 41 years I’ve watched the most beautiful, deep pink azalea grow and blossom Spring after Spring, in front of the huge picture window, outside my parents living room. It’s been a staple in our family, a marker to us of Spring’s true arrival, that became woven into our history. As I grew up and learned more and more about plants, I would say to my dad each year, “We have to trim back that azalea!” It became a running joke, because each year we’d forget and miss the window. Dad passed on to new horizons last year, and we never did get to trimming that azalea. When Alex from @fieldstudiesflora was searching for just the right branches and foliage for this event, I had the perfect fit in mind. The azalea finally got trimmed, Dad.

Me, in my natural habitat, happiest. Foraging for lonicera japonica- Japanese honeysuckle vine- for @tjmcgrathdesign ’s upcoming workshop @hautau_and_sons , this Saturday. Lonicera japonica is the invasive species of honeysuckle that is found all over the east coast and while it’s pretty and helpful to pollinators, it majorly competes with native species such as lonicera sempervinens- which can now only be found mostly at your nearest garden center. Foraging for honeysuckle to use as a green and vine in floral arrangements, is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint by using ultra localized “product” while also helping our eco system by removing invasive species to make room for natives. ✌🏾
