New here? Curious what exactly is “CAP”? In its most simple form, our Citizen Astronaut Program (CAP) was created to help leaders achieve a profound shift in perspective through a sponsored spaceflight. Upon their return they will then use that experience to address our most intractable challenges and solutions. This week, we’ve taken a step in realizing that mission with the announcement of our first #spaceforhumanity sponsored #citizenastronaut, Katya Echazarreta. Watch her travel past the karman line AND her journey as our first #s4h ambassador. #overvieweffect #spaceexploration #changetheworld #astronaut #katyaechazarreta #spacetravel #karmanline #frankwhite

🚀🌍 Look up at the night sky and you'll see endless possibilities. But from space, you see something even more awe-inspiring: a single, interconnected planet where borders and differences disappear. Mae Jemison, the first black woman to travel to space, reminds us that our actions have an impact on every living thing on Earth. It's time to break down the divisions of nations and religions and come together as one human race. Let's work towards a brighter future for ourselves and all the beautiful creatures that call this planet home. “Looking at the earth from afar you realize it is too small for conflict and just big enough for co-operation.” - Yuri Gagarin Happy International Human Space Flight Day! 🌍 Today, we celebrate the awe-inspiring achievements of humanity as we venture beyond our home planet and ask the most important questions of our time about how we can use that experience to change the world! Let’s unite in our shared love for space, and strive for an even greater impact together. #SpaceDay #HumanSpaceFlight #BeyondTheStars #OneSmallStepForMan #InfinitePossibilities #overvieweffect #quotereel

There's a reason astronauts come back from space changed 🌍 Seeing Earth from above has a way of shifting everything. That experience has a name, The Overview Effect, and it's exactly the kind of POV shift we need more of right now. Plus, for nearly 60 years, @startrek has been asking us to imagine a future worth building and a species worthy of the stars. So, at this year's summit, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds writer Bill Wolkoff and star Melissa Navia are joining former NASA astronaut Garrett Reisman and astronaut-in-training Manju Bangalore to talk about what happens when science and storytelling collide. And how that collision can expand what we think is possible on THIS planet. June 3 & 4 in Los Angeles. Tickets at HollywoodClimateSummit.com link in bio. #HollywoodClimateSummit #HCS2026 #StarTrek #OverviewEffect #ClimateStorytelling

🚀 May 5, 1961 – Freedom 7: America’s First Human in Space! 🚀🌍 65 years ago today, Alan Shepard climbed into his Mercury capsule atop a Redstone rocket. He became the first American to fly in space. A quick 15 minute suborbital hop. Thunderous launch. Then weightlessness. From 116 miles up, Shepard looked down and radioed back: “What a beautiful view!” Freedom 7 proved humans could survive and work in space. It cleared the path for longer missions, orbital flights, and the Moon. One short ride. Huge impact. That glimpse from above planted the seed for the Overview Effect. Seeing Earth as one small, borderless home. At Space for Humanity, we are sending citizen astronauts from every background into orbit. They return inspired to protect and unite our shared world. From Freedom 7 to the future. The journey continues. 🌍✨ Image Courtesy of @nasa #TodayInSpaceHistory #Freedom7 #AlanShepard #FirstAmericanInSpace #OverviewEffect #SpaceForHumanity #CitizenAstronaut #2Space4Earth

We’ve teamed up with @PenguinRandomHouse and author @andyweirofficial for National Space Day, with a special sweepstakes hosted by Penguin Random House to celebrate stories that spark wonder and the real work of making space accessible to all. One lucky winner will score a complete Andy Weir book set, plus a chance to connect with the mission that’s turning sci-fi into reality. RULES: 🧑‍🚀 Follow @spacehumanity and @andyweirofficial 🧑‍🚀 Like this post 🧑‍🚀 Tag someone who shoots for the moon (1 comment = 1 entry) At Space for Humanity, we live the same spirit you find in Andy Weir’s books: ordinary people using creativity, science, and grit to overcome the biggest challenges in space for the benefit of Earth and humanity. Just like Mark Watney growing potatoes on Mars or Ryland Grace figuring out how to save humanity from light-years away, we’re proving that space belongs to all of us. From our citizen astronauts, such as Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican-born woman in space, and Sara Sabry, the first Egyptian to travel into space, as well as the first African and Arab woman, we see the same real-world ingenuity and courage. Curious minds, bold dreamers, and everyday humans ready to build a future where our species thrives together on this planet and beyond. Find out how you can become part of the mission at spaceforhumanity.org #2Space4Earth NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter between 10:00 AM (ET) on May 1, 2026 and 10:00 AM (ET) on May 5, 2026. Open to US residents, 18 and older. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

🚀 April 24, 1990 – Hubble Space Telescope Launches: Our Eyes on the Cosmos! 🌌🔭 35 years ago today, Space Shuttle Discovery lifted off with Hubble tucked in its cargo bay. Deployed the next day, this revolutionary telescope opened a new window on the universe—capturing distant galaxies, nebulae, and the very edge of time itself. Despite an early mirror flaw fixed by heroic spacewalks, Hubble delivered jaw-dropping images that rewrote astronomy books and gave millions a profound new perspective on our place in the cosmos. Those stunning deep-field views remind us of the Overview Effect from above: Earth as one tiny, fragile, beautiful home in an immense universe. At Space for Humanity, we're inspired by Hubble's legacy—sending citizen astronauts to orbit so they can experience that same awe-inspiring shift and return ready to protect and unite our planet. 🌍✨ Image courtesy of @nasa #TodayInSpaceHistory #Hubble #Hubble35 #SpaceTelescope #OverviewEffect #SpaceForHumanity #CitizenAstronaut #2Space4Earth

We got the call to join Luna Replicas for an unforgettable behind-the-scenes tour, and wow, what a ride. From the cockpit of the recovery helicopter at sunset to walking the decks of the USS John P. Murtha, standing next to the Artemis capsule fresh from splashdown, and hearing Captain Erik Kenny and the team share what it really takes to bring our astronauts home safely. Every detail, every hand on deck, every proud moment out there on the water; it all hits different when you see it up close. Watch the whole reel and witness the mission that brings us all closer to the stars, while keeping our feet firmly on Earth. @antonioperonace @lunareplicas @nasa #2Space4Earth #Artemis #NASA #ArtemisII #Splashdown #SpaceRecovery #HelicopterRecovery #OrionCapsule #USNavy #SpaceMission #ToTheMoonAndBack #HumanSpaceflight
