The King’s Foundation & FormationQ | Harmonious Urban Growth: A Health-Optimised Expansion Framework Using Quantum Earlier today, @kingsfoundation announced it is partnering with FormationQ to launch a three-year programme exploring how quantum technologies can help cities across the Commonwealth grow in healthy, sustainable and resilient ways. Space Syntax is pleased to be contributing to the programme, working with IonQ to develop a set of digital tools to support planning in rapidly growing areas. Our contribution builds on decades of Space Syntax research, accelerated now through the emerging potential of quantum computing. Last month, our Director Ed Parham joined the formal launch of the partnership at Dumfries House, where partners from across the initiative gathered to discuss the collaboration and the exciting opportunity it presents to combine advanced technology with evidence-based urban planning to support long-term sustainable growth. We look forward to working together with The King’s Foundation, FormationQ and IonQ. _____________ #SpaceSyntax #TheKingsFoundation #FormationQ #IonQ #Quantum #UrbanGrowth #Innovation #Commonwealth #HealthyCities

PROJECT SUMMARY | British Museum, Western Range Competition Reimagining how visitors move through & experience the Western Range with enhanced visibility & improved wayfinding to create an intuitive & sociable experience. The Western Range is one of the most architecturally significant but spatially disconnected parts of the British Museum. Despite housing important galleries, the rooms are difficult to navigate, with poor visibility, complex circulation and limited access between levels. As a result, visitors are often disoriented or bypass important spaces altogether, leading to uneven footfall, congestion, and an inferior museum experience. The British Museum’s competition called for a redesign that would make the Western Range more appealing to a broader audience. _____________ Year: 2024 Client: Eric Perry Architects | British Museum Role: Spatial Strategy & Movement Analysis Team: Eric Parry Architects | Jamie Fobert Architects Purcell Heritage Consultants Max Fordham | Price & Myers Key Features: Visitor Circulation Design Strategy Spatial Layout Analysis Exhibit Visibility Analysis Design Testing & Optimisation _____________ #SpaceSyntax #BritishMuseum

THE SKETCH | While we draw heavily on the capabilities of digital technology at Space Syntax, we also acknowledge the power of hand drawing. Sometimes a sketch can convey the essence of an idea more quickly and elegantly than a machine-made output. There’s a place for both. In this sequence of hand drawings by @tim_stonor we see: Slide 1 | A first impression of a pedestrian-centric city, supported by elevated public transport, prepared at the early stages of an international design competition Slides 2-3 | Explorations of multi-level, mass-movement options in Makkah, Saudi Arabia Slides 4-9 | Initial ideas for strategic planning options in a metropolitan region in the Middle East, produced to facilitate leadership workshop discussions _____________ #SpaceSyntax #Sketch #Design #Mobility #Walkability
