The Nevada Test Site was home to America smaller Nuclear Weapons tests. While the larger ones were tested out in the Marshall Islands.
Over almost 40 years the test site spread radioactive fallout all across North America, with the jet winds that naturally blow from west to east, carried the fallout across the country.
There is a famous story of the Kodak factory in Rochester, NY, being informed by the NTS of when they would be testing, so Kodak could bring their film inside, as the fallout was fogging the film on the other side of the country.
Atmospheric testing ended in the 60’s but underground testing continued until the 90’s, which still resulted in the venting of radioactive dust and particulates that spread well up into the states of Utah and Idaho.

As part of the COFA agreement with the Marshall Islands, they agreed to pay the Marshallese for damages caused and for their suffering. However, after signing into this agreement, rather than giving the money straight to the Marshallese government to distribute accordingly, they put the money into a fund that got almost completely wiped out by bankers on Wall Street… they gambled with their money they agreed to compensate and lost almost all of it, leaving these people yet again with little to nothing.
Fortunately as of 2024, there has been ratified COFA agreement signed that has fixed this issue, but as part of the agreement, the US still fully controls the islands lands and seas for military use…

Decades after the thermonuclear weapons tests at Enewetak, the US government sent military personnel, civilians and scientists back to the islands to ‘clean them up’. This process involved removing top soil, and shifting all of the wreckage they had left behind and dumping it into what became the Runit Dome.
Despite the efforts of thousands of men, whose lives were also put at extreme risk for sometimes up to 18 months at a time, the damage had already been done. And the dome? It has been found that the area around the dome is just as radioactive and contaminated as what’s inside…
