Our guest for RP radio with @datatransmission this month was: @soulframe Currently based in Leeds, John aims to share his passion for electronic music and interesting sound design to the masses. DJing came from a desire to break the mould of his day career, and to seek discomfort; breaking the cycle of ‘he wishes he could do that’. His DJ name ‘soulframe’ was derived from his passion of photography and desire to understand the subject in the frame. He uses this passion to connect with his audience, providing a soundtrack for their journey. Soulframe, a techno DJ and producer based in Leeds, hails from Peterborough. His sound is a fusion of hypnotic repetition and driving percussive layers, influenced by the raw percussion of the early 2000s underground techno and refined by the precision of modern minimalism. Soulframe’s style is deeply rooted in the loop-heavy, warehouse-fueled era of turn-of-the-millennium techno, where groove was the key. He draws inspiration from the stripped-back futurism of early Richie Hawtin, the relentless energy of Ben Sims, and the darker tonalities of SHDW. This influences his sets, which live in the tension between control and chaos. Soulframe’s approach is as much about restraint as it is release. He focusses on long blends, tension-building sequences, and a deep respect for the dancefloor as a ritual space. His mission is simple: to lose the ego and let the rhythm speak. Went on a solo Paris trip last weekend for a bit of a reset and saw the ledge that is Four Tet. Also included, are some snippets of mixing with the @playdifferently model 1.4. I’ve had gear in repair centres for a while and decided to settle with a mixer that’s fully analog, which is funny as I’ve gone back to a Traktor setup which is fully digital lol.

The last Friday of Jan is round the corner which can only mean one thing! It’s the first Rote show of the year! The next guest is @soulframe aka @edge_uk older brother 💫 The pair have been on a number of B2b’s over the years however this will be the first time they play a House set together.
