Dance has been my hobby, passion, outlet, love, obsession, career, livelihood, and all things in between for nearly two decades. But learning to nourish myself outside of dance is actually what has allowed me to sustain it for this long. Dance can be a gigantic part of you without being fully who you are.
A big one I didn’t mention: nurture your relationships outside of dance 🫶🏼
Finally sharing this here because some accounts have been posting it without my permission 👀 this moment shared with papa yang was truly the best - he practiced so hard and there were a lot of small details in this that were his idea (the shades… the very Korean dad thumbs up… THE ENDING?!?!🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️💀💀💀) undeniably the top dance performance of my life - I’ll cherish this forever 😭❤️🔥

My choreography is usually constructed through blending different parts/sounds of the music together based on what I gravitate towards. But for this, I wanted to put myself in a producer’s shoes and separate different musical groups (main vocals, beats, & background/adlibs) to compose a piece with separate moving parts, all working together cohesively.
I was so close to canceling this shoot - self doubt and resistance were verrryyyy present during this process of investing in my work again. If you’ve been having trouble believing that your ideas are worth executing, this is your sign to just make that shit!!❤️🔥 it doesn’t always have to be that deep, you really CAN just create because you enjoy it, no matter the outcome. Here’s to more showing up for ourselves and more creating — not for the sake of releasing more final products, but for the sake of exploring what we have within us.

I love being this girl’s mom so much, and every part of my motherhood journey has been equal parts humbling and rewarding. postpartum class taking chronicles - feelin shy about posting these but whatever!! Showing up exhausted, anxious, and rusty (esp the retention part 😵💫) has not been easy, but I owe it to myself and my students to keep growing for as long as I can and to practice what I preach. also never want Jia to think her mama’s lost it 😅

A little combo for the teen room at @hollywoodvibe !! Had a blast making a few guest appearances so far this season 🤭 a genuine thank you to Hollywood Vibe for having me, the students and teachers I had the privilege of teaching, the craziest assistants I had by my side, the most badass media team for capturing moments, the list goes on!
