2024 Round Up - Part 1 - Jan - Jun
* Surprise engagement in the Seychelles - Si designed the ring and it was exactly what I would have chosen. A beautiful country to create special memories in.
* New Year walk with Mum and Dad at one of our fave local nature spots. Try to see Mum and Dad weekly throughout year even if it’s just a 5 min catch up.
* Reunited with furry love-bug Rosie - I so miss seeing her regularly. The sweetest angel. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years since we first saw her face on @borrowmydoggy
* Not really a memory of mine, but we were all so proud of mg brother winning his Oscar. So cool!
* I finished work in the bedroom, and it was finally the hotel inspired sanctuary we’d been craving after years of neon pink walls and peeling wallpaper.
* I bought myself some pencils hoping to kickstart getting back into be creative. Lasted about a week. Work just didn’t allow enough spare time. Also failed to return to my pottery class, which was the one thing I used to have to decompress and relax at.
* Created lots of nice memories with Si’s mum - this was a walk round Hampton Court.
* Took on new work challenges in new industries. Wasn’t always easy, but have learned a lot. Struggled with energy due to juggling several roles and it’s definitely been tricky due to ADHD related traits, but hopefully it’s building resilience and confidence.
* Celebrating lovely friends on their happy life updates. This year would end up being my most sociable in a while - felt lucky to know so many great people.
* Celebrated Si’s special birthday - he had food poisoning at the weekend celebration with friendsbut it’s always fab to get the gang together. He managed to surface for a pizza oven session in the garden which would become a summer staple. * Another outing for Si’s birthday was the Feast at @thenedlondon - Indulgence doesn’t even cover it. Took two days to recover from the gluttony.
* Supported @catsprotection alongside my loyalist companion Bluey.
* We returned to the music scene briefly with a day at @slamdunkmusic and had the best day bumping in to faces we hadn’t seen in a long time.

Working from home in the noise and chaos has been challenging, as has the mental juggle. I’d say overwhelmed and overstimulated sums it up quite well. But we are on the last stretch of this phase ( kitchen comes Thursday) and then it’s one more phase ( utility/downstairs WC) and the garden. At that point I’ll take a lengthy break, try and save some money and think about something else for a few years! Our sketchy bathroom is functional albeit a bit gross, so that can wait!

So looking forward to prioritising rest and not feeling guilty about replacing my thread bare bras!

Back from a few days in Devon. We couldn’t justify a holiday with all the #renovation outgoings happening over the next couple of months, thankfully a generous friend offered a very helpful solution! A perfect few days of estuary views, mooching for antiques and fantastic Devon cuisine! Made a cute friend too!

I don’t often have fast enough reactions to play into trends on here, but this only involved a scroll through the instagram feed, and what a trip that was. Do you ever think that some things just came to you at the wrong time. Timing really is everything isn’t it? I should have been having the time of my life doing all this stuff, but the reality I was constantly in a state of nervousness, anxiety and dread. These situations didn’t feel ‘safe’ at all. This was also pre-audhd diagnosis, which explained why so many of these ‘fun’ scenarios made my body/mind scream. What a pity that is, but it reinforces how helpful transformative understanding yourself can be.

I’s a real shame I couldn’t make the most of the situations and opportunities that were presented to me 10 years ago due to the lacking in confidence and the constant self sabotage - for reasons I couldn’t then explain. But I can look back and think well, I’m really so very lucky to have had any of these experiences at all. They have definitely decorated my time here on earth with some funny and surreal memories.

My life is far more sedate now, and I guess my body is thankful for the slower pace, being grounded in reality, and the abundance of quality animal time, but I can’t help but wonder what could have been. #2016
Dunno whether it’s just a flare or that bug that everyone seems to have but either way it looks like the rest of the holiday break is going to be home/bed situation and a very sedate new years celebration with the two of us ( plus Bluey) tonight. But wishing you all settled nervous systems for 2026 - company that fills you up, changes that deliver peace or fulfilment and anything else on your person wish list even if it’s as simple as being an easier year than 2025! ❤️
The only photo I got yesterday was of Mabel just after she licked the salt off some leftover crackers. Glad she decided to treat herself on Christmas Day! We were very lucky to be hosted by @century.design.studio and @exaflood and provided with the most delicious and delicious spread. Hope you all had a lovely day whatever you were doing and hope you’ve can enjoy some much needed chill time ahead of the new year! ❤️

Life lately - not the most riveting of round-ups I’m afraid - social life is basically zero until I get this space in a liveable state in time for the festive break, so all energy/money is being channelled into that until further notice.
Can’t wait to be able to start getting festive, have Bluey home and not having random things like fridges blocking our doorways!
A condensed version of my last three weeks, from prepping the space and clearing it as much as possible to the last 2 weeks of structural work. Head to @athomewithegg for the full daily update vlogs. The @sgcssurreyltd have worked so hard and got us ahead of schedule. Once this phase is complete next week we will be living with a half finished room, blocked up window holes and no flooring for the foreseeable while we save for phase 2, but it’ll be such a good feeling to have the scariest part of the remodel done!
Our spontaneous day in Folkestone turned into just lunch and a quick mooch due to some horrendous traffic, but luckily the food was delicious and remedied any grumpiness! #folkstone #seaside #daytrip
Forget to keep things updated on this account as all #diy and #renovation content is over at @athomewithegg but earlier in the year we did our biggest splurge so far which felt very scary but in the end has made a huge difference to the feel of the downstairs. There were were some very stressful issues along the way but one thing you learn from buying a doer upper is that it’s not long before you have to forget about a past stress because you’re are immediately on to a new one!

Big structural work coming in November so do follow along on my other account. As an extension was out of the question financially we are rejigging the space we already have to work for us better, so if you’re in a similar position and want a space to serve many functions without adding sqm, then get involved!
