Ben Branagan's Sketch for a Garden invited ecological listening and care and consideration of site through Cyonotype and objects as it will begin to expand with the help of East Sussex College students today Carl Bigmore's extraordinary linking to our unlikely ancestors through sound, play, and photography The Whales. Georgina Cook's durational and prfoundly moving working with ROW YOUR BOAT which invited at one moment the beautiful interaction of parents and children joining in an transient audience members touched and talking about it into the late evening. Beautiful participatory Ritual outdoors from 7 Whirling Women: Caroline Gregory, Cate Brick, Ella Lowden, Marybeth Haas, Diane Roesch, Maitri Gold, Rosa Campbell was a placing in our current times through sound and keening. Zeroh initiated Phase 1 of their towering sound sculpture by pulling it into the air ready to receive the local winds and whims of the site. Had a fab time a couple of Sundays ago creating a belated film for ‘In Touch’ a co-created sensory clay, sound and touch participatory work exploring memory with sounds contributed last summer by adults from @h.r.v.a.b in St Leonard’s and Elizabeth Court Rest home in Bexhill The work was original supposed to be shown at @sono.electro and the first weekend of the festival was sadly cancelled but big thank you to them for funding this film to be captured by the fabulous @w_e_n_d_yshort , which will be edited and online including the sound work soon. Thank you also to the 3 local participant-performers who were totally fab! Another clip from the debut of my durational performance piece - Row Your Boat; showcased at @sono.electro @electro_studios_project_space last Friday. Row Your Boat - 2025 Here are a few photos and clips from the debut of my durational performance piece Row Your Boat at @sono.electro at @electro_studios_project_space on Saturday. In which I sat in a boat moored inside the gallery space for 2 hours singing the nursery rhyme Row Your Boat, in front of a projection of the sea. Thank you to everyone that joined me or joined in. Some of you said it was very moving and emotional. For me it was about resilience and endurance and about testing the limits of song and voice. It was an ode to parenting, an ode to solo mothering. An ode to invisible labour. It honoured all the mothers across the world lulling their children to sleep in various situations, some of which are unimaginable to most of us. I thought it would be an emotional experience for me , but asides from some initial vulnerability that I felt when the first audience member sat in the room, it was largely a physiological and meditative experience . I hadn’t banked on the boat becoming an instrument and I enjoyed playing with that and the acoustics in the room. The sound recording was put back in the boat the next day for anyone to jump in and listen to. Along with a text about mothers in G*z* 🍉 by @jamiliashani So much more I could say about it so I’ll try to write it all down soon. Thanks to everyone who dropped by, got involved and participated in Sketch for a Garden at @sonoelectro this weekend. It was a great couple of days, full of workshops, conversations, and creative experiments around sound, place, and what a garden can be. Fantastic to see the installation grow and come to life over the weekend. Shoutout to all the students from @hastingsartfoundation for bringing great energy on Saturday, and to @_lucything @horgansuzanne for invaluable assistance in bringing it all together. Lastly, a massive thanks to @wilkie.xyz for tech wizardry and the vision to make the whole festival happen. Hoping this is the start of something we can keep growing 🌱 📷 @georginaccook

Sono-Satellite saw @pablomcfee presented some of #hastings finest talented youth as part of @sono.electro held at @electro_studios_project_space Many of these young people honed their craft at the legendary Respond Academy youth project run by Pablo and JC Mcfee. The project is no longer running but its legacy is long lasting. Their alumni list is next level 🔥🔥🔥 I was sad to miss seeing Neo Producer aka @vinceno.prod @fraktured_planet and @apexmusik @sustrapperazzi_ was on fire and @a.l.i.c.e.b.a.r.n.a.r.d was sublime. @pablomcfee and @gmcpalmer performed an amazing set that incorporated storytelling, sound art, music and much more. This was followed by @teddbarrow >>reanimated<< where he creating new sounds and music from the detritus of the recording industry - so good!!! # Sadly I had to leave early to go to the sister audio festival @xmtr.fm for my talk with @audiofluxing . I’ll cover this in a separate post. Please take time to check out all the artists.

Amazing amazing @statueoflibertybigband Grand Finale of Sono-Electro at @electro_studios_project_space this weekend!

Right on cue, the clouds played their part in making yesterday’s @sono.electro events so enjoyable. It helped too having a next-level bar crew. @landing_esps_

Yesterday’s Spin-cycle filled the main gallery with musicians and Hi-tech - amazing how it was all held together by @jmswvr of @sonics_hastings fame post-it-notes!!!😎 More events today including performances by @isobel_andersonnn @gormleygerard and @gasciaouzounian and at 5.00 The brand new Statue of Liberty All-Star Big Band @statueoflibertybigband - 15 musicians who have never played live together before. From chaos the universe was born. @landing_esps_ @sono.electro
