VIRTUACA004 - El Mago de La Guaira - Tecnostreet Growing up inside Venezuela’s Miniteca culture (mobile sound systems that defined the country’s underground from the 70s through the 90s), Luis Rafael Mojica @elmagodelaguaira came up through Sound Crazy, a sound system institution running since 1979. Based in La Guaira, a port city just north of Caracas, his sound carried the natural pulse of the Caribbean while absorbing the imported records that moved through this zone: disco, electro, italo, reggae, merengue, and eventually the techno and house Venezuelans would come to call Changa. By 1997, he was producing his own tracks on a Pentium 4 using Mixman Studios and Cool Edit Pro. His early productions were defined by polyrhythmic, sample-heavy edits that fused house with soca, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, vocal samples in Spanish, and Venezuelan merengue. Soon after, he began incorporating Brazilian funk vocals and italo elements into his sampling, while consistently anchoring his hooks in Spanish. He called the sound Tecnostreet, street music for La Guaira’s sound systems. While Caracas’s west side was shaping its own chapter of Venezuelan club music underground (Street House and Raptor House with DJ Babatr, DJ Deep RH, among others), El Mago was doing his own thing from the periphery, in his beloved coastal city of La Guaira, quietly influencing a new generation of DJs, including DJ Yirvin. On December 15, 1999, catastrophic mudslides and flooding in an event later known as La Tragedia de Vargas buried much of La Guaira. El Mago lost his studio. The original sessions of most of his productions were gone. This release recovers part of what survived: a foundational archive, built on the edge, before anyone was paying attention. “NUNCA ES TARDE PARA LA BUENA MUSICA” Luis Rafael ‘El Mago de La Guaira’ Out: March 30, 2026 Produced by Rafael Mojica between 1997 and 2000. ACA is proud to present the first 12” vinyl release from one of the pillars of Venezuelan Changa music, DJ Yirvin @djyirvin DJ Yirvin is one of the most prolific and important music producers that have emerged out of the Venezuelan 'Miniteca' (Mobile Dound Systems) underground since the early 2000s. Alongside DJ Babatr, DJ Deeprh, DJ EL Mago, DJ Yoiser and others, he is one of the true originators of the Venezuelan dance music continuum known as Changa, with subgenres such as Street House and Raptor House, though his sound later evolved into a unique style of his own known as Hard Fusion. "El Máximo Creador" showcases the vast range of styles Yirvin explored during the early 2000s, including some of his most iconic tracks, as well as lesser-known gems like "Muévelo," "Party People," "Crazy Bomb," and a remix from Siu Mata and Amor Satyr of "Ya Yahoo." Releases March 15, 2024. Physical pre-order and distro through @oneyewitness . Available digitally through ACA Bandcamp. (Link in bio) Produced & Mixed by DJ Yirvin in Petare (Caracas, Venezuela) between 2002 - 2007 Remix by Siu Mata and Amor Satyr. @siumata @amorsatyr Additional mixing by Ribes. @ribesmastering Mastered by Marco Pellegrino at Analog Cut. @analogcutmastering Artwork by planetluke.com @planetlukedotcom Catalogue No.__ACA-002 sonidoaca.bandcamp.com Thanks

Following up on NAP’s Cueva EP, comes the Conuco EP, another trippy, dubbed-out cumbia excursion featuring Venezuelan queer icon Jasy Del Rey and Naranja Cuatro on vocals, with DJ Phidias on the remix. Local Barcelona dub legend Pope (from the band STA) provides two real-time, one-take, analogue-mixed dub versions. In Venezuelan slang, "Conuco" refers to a small plot of land in the countryside where one grows a small “huerto” or garden, primarily for self-supply. Literally growing up the "campo" in Valera (Trujillo, Venezuela), Jasy has now become a nationwide queer/Flinta celebrity alongside her partner in crime, Neisser. Jasy often openly discusses (on Twitter or during stand-up comedy shows) discovering her sexuality through the magic realism of her hometown’s conucos. This song is a tribute to her roots, an anthem of rural gayhood—mysterious, sexy and dirty.
