Ten years after the untimely passing of Leila Alaoui, SOMETHING Art Space presents an immersive exhibition dedicated to her work. Four major bodies of work, 'Les Marocains', 'No Pasara', 'Crossings', 'Made in India', are presented in a fully projected format, conceived as a spatial montage. Far from being confined to a commemorative logic, her work continues to operate as an active practice of looking, attentive to conditions of visibility, regimes of representation, and the ethical responsibilities of images at a time when borders, migration, and labor remain sites of symbolic and political violence.
Presented in Abidjan, at a crossroads of West African mobilities, the exhibition invites an intimate reflection on migration and exile, while opening a dialogue between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
