A pinch me moment….. Thank you @nytimes & Laurel Graeber for featuring “GEOMETRIES” with @abstractexit @rico_gatson @chrisbogia and myself. When I started painting again, it was straight from the heart, with intention to create a world that was based in love, community, service and representation. What happened after was and is purely magical. ✨✨✨ As always immense gratitude too @sugarhillmuseum & @damiendavis . A beautiful dream turned real. 🙏🏼🤎

This installation marks another full-circle moment for me. Fifth Avenue and 13th Street once defined my daily landscape while I was attending Parsons, and as I arrived to install “Tessellations” at 55 Fifth Avenue—at the very intersection of those two streets, wonderful memories surfaced. Standing there, installing this work while facing the building where I once studied and attended classes, I was struck by the unexpectedness of it all 🪄✨. My creative path has unfolded through many chapters and crossings, shaped by time, risk, and persistence. Yet this moment feels uniquely aligned—quietly extraordinary, unmistakably kismet. I am deeply grateful to Tessa, Francis, Bryce, and the entire team for their trust and support, and for making this meaningful moment possible. 🖤🤍 Special Thank you to Natalie Kates and Damien Davis 🖤🤍. Join us Tuesday, February 10th for a toast. Hope to see you there.

The unique use of shape and color allows Martinez to speak about the complexities of identity, community, and emotion in a way that is both intimate and universal. Geometric abstraction in the artist’s work is an attempt to capture the essence of the life itself, creating tension and contradiction. The richness of color and form refer to the spectrum of human emotions and experiences, and our collective and individual journeys over time. Each piece is a meditation on the fluidity of our existence—showing that life is not static, but rather a constant ebb and flow of feelings, encounters, and revelations. Martinez’s abstraction serves as a bridge and triggers a dialogue, creating space for a deeper understanding of ourselves and each other. By focusing on the emotional and social undercurrents of human life, she invites the viewer into a shared moment of reflection—one that transcends words and speaks directly to the unconscious. Marisol Martinez “Gradation” Square (black circle) Acrylic & Gel on Canvas - Center canvas 16’ round 36 x 36 in Now on view through February 28th For all inquiries please contact [email protected] #geometricabstraction #formahgallery #abstractpainting #groupexhibition

The exhibition “Loved In Time”, featuring Marisol Martinez, Prema Murthy, Rachel Rubenstein, Kim Uchiyama and Karin Waskiewicz is on view till February 28th! The title, Loved in Time, inspired by Rubenstein’s painting, underscores the exhibition’s thematic preoccupation with the intersection of time and emotion. By invoking the passage of time, the artists articulate the ways in which memory, experience, and the ephemeral are embedded within material and process. @theformah 42 Allen street, Wed-Sat 12-7pm.
