Where did the time go… back in the late 90’s I couldn’t get enough of MTB. It was my first time in Europe Les Gets France is where I was introduced to @kirtvoreis_allride That’s a funny story on its own but for now I’ll stick to this story. Kirt moved up to Santa Barbara where I was at the time. I had already been making VHS videos for a while and we decided to work together on the next one. He got on the Haro team @_mike_king12 was the Manager/racer everything kinda fell into place and it was on. We traveled to the World Cup races and in between races we would search for riding spots, definitely not the normal for a World Cup racer. Kirt was different than the other racers we would be around. He was more into location scouting than partying, 💯dedicated to pushing himself and had a vision of what riding is to him. One specific day remember him working on his bike routing the cables so he could do barspins and eventually doing the first tail whip on a mtb.? (Just based on my memory. I don’t recall anyone doing it before he did). It changed Mtb forever. It didn’t take long and soon became one of the most important upgrades you could do to your mountain bike. Changed the game for sure. Hence “Evolution” I look back now and can’t believe what we accomplished. Time goes by too fast I look back like it was yesterday but it was 20 years ago

@solidfoto shoots it the same way, no overthinking, just instinct. @nickkskii wears it like it’s already his. @uplandstreetwear meets it in the middle and gives it structure without cleaning it up.

Had a blast yesterday as I headed east towards Joshua Tree to meet up with @solidfoto , scanning slides and going through hard drives from early morning until evening. After realizing that 20 year old flash drives on an equally antiquated Macbook takes HOURS to copy just 2Gb of data, we called it a day and will probably meet again within the next few days to exchange the rest. It was rad to be out there, hanging out in the shed and having history in my hands that I was fortunate to digitize. On top of that, we had some good conversations as Matt experienced so many things behind the scenes, it was great to experience his viewpoint for sure. There has to be a more detailed interview later on for sure!
Came back late into the night, with no voice (somehow lost it randomly) and pretty drained (had to stop in between to take a nap or else I would’ve fallen asleep mid drive), but I’m still pumped that the meeting happened.
