calling all people in solidarity with palestine: ongoing mutual aid for @kham_is1998 & his family
♥️🖤🤍💚♥️🖤🤍💚♥️🖤🤍
khamis is a kind soul surviving the genocide through his mid 20s he is home & safety to his mom & sibs from tel el hawa, palestine — a survivor of severe bomb injuries in recovery, a studied lawyer, body builder, son, brother, cousin, friend asking for your respect through solidarity
the gfm which has been up since he was put into medical crisis from bombing was made by his cousin @safisafah & he was connected with me as an artist in solidarity through @creatorsforgaza the gfm has been a lifeline in helping him recover, survive the holocaust & show up for his responsibilities to protecting & caring for his fam as best he can among everything — the recent “peace agreement,” has not come with an end to genocidal land theft & the brutal devastation at hand & respect & honouring dignity of survivors there like him is needed through ongoing support
what’s pretty cool & not everyone knows is that you can actually sign up for rolling monthly donations, pay what you can too — over here in the western world in our doom scrolls it can be way to easy to fall into crisis fatigue, but the answer to “what did you do during the genocide,” actually doesn’t have to be nothing, even if you, like me, don’t have much
aside from showing up with cash, circulate this & help me get word out about his story — he’s an admirable guy & deserves the best

passionflower hoodie for my sweet sib meadow for her 15th birthday today
i wanted to make her something that would feel like a big safe hug, calming, supportive & loving like passionflower as a plant & protective like a shell — hoodies are a safe item for me & i wanted it to be something like that for her too
the sleeves say TRUST & DREAM which are words that make me think of important things to cultivate to live a good life
my friend james @tinyshrine carefully mended this thrifted hoodie orginally from @oakandfort & i modified it with @jacquardproducts decolourant paste & sharpie, heat set to last forever
i feel so lucky to have the opportunity to be a big brother & so lucky meadow chose to visit me for her birthday, to see the big city for the first time & hang out — my sibs are so cool
im planning on making a drop soon of clothing modified to sell & may take limited comissions in the future too, so stay tuned & drop an emoji in the comments if you read this far, tyyyy xo
(ID: a black hoodie with bleached designs on it of passion, flower vining all over the hoodie, weaving through chain-link fence on the hoodies pocket and wrapping over the hood and down both sleeves on the back of the hoodie in the center there is a spiderweb. There are tiny stars sprinkled, and each sleeve has spiky punk font that reads trust on one sleeve and dream on the other sleeve. The photos show the hoodie from different angles on a periwinkle blue background)
a special custom hoodie for my baby brother as a birthday present (we share the same one) words cant describe how proud i am of him, and the kind/patient/observant/compassionate person he is & is becoming
this hoodie was my favourite for many years when it was just that plain deep maroon & i spent many many hours this month making it something new for him
the light parts are lifted with decolourant aka “discharge paste,” which are an alternative to bleach that is less toxic and more gentle on fabric and the linework is all done in sharpie which is permanent when heat set
im sure it’s giant on him now but my hope is that it’s something he can keep for years & grow into — ben if you read this i love you!

(ID: photos of a custom hoodie over a mauve background the hoodie pictures mountains and water that wrap around the mountains from front to back, melty chains wrapping from the lower back to either side of the pouch pocket big full moons under the throat and centered between the shoulders eyes going up one sleeve and one side of the hood and giant spiky thorns up another sleeve and around the other side of the hood)
for one of the most kind, generous, genius & trustworthy people i have ever known — hbd gem/james/tiny/all love being besties down the hall, love seeing you outlive the odds, love seeing you shine @tinyshrine

“peoples reactions to bringing up hiv/aids are weirdly similar to bringing up covid hey?”
“yeah similarities aside it offends normal to admit they can happen now,”
“both are life altering risks to ANYONE!”

In Grief Castle, Bug Cru (@softworlds ), an interdisciplinary visual artist based on the Coast Salish territories colonially known as Vancouver, Canada, takes you by the hand and walks with you through the messy, absurd, beautiful, and brutal land of grief in all its complex and numerous forms, the ways it dwells in your guts and bones and tangled nests of dirty laundry. Heartfelt, playful, and visceral, Grief Castle captures the ways living through grief really feels.
“24 pages of silly, absurd & sombre art, games, words, prompts, spirit work & madness for you to dig into… made almost out of necessity over several years as a byproduct of living with complex prolonged grief — with the intention of contributing to the shifting paradigm of grieving”
a mini zine i made on belonging and the paradoxical relationship between outsiderness & normalcy
it doesn’t have a title just a weird jester head with a portal instead of a face — find me tabling at markets in the future to get a paper copy
#minizine #outsider #nonconformity #zineart #zinestagram
(ID: text post zine art by bug it reads The trick of the outsider is that their you Their you behind your best efforts to belong Their you behind your fear and the parts of yourself you put away Their the little kid you were before you were told who to be
Who used their hands to eat food in handfuls and splash mud Laughed screamed and wailed with their whole body, moved by emotion and curiosity The trick of the outsider is that their is you as you already belong They knows who you really are no matter how well you act the script and fill the roll Seemingly opposite to the ways you want to be normal, like others, known and loved Embodying the outsider puts aside the isolation of conformity and mimicry and surrenders you to the authenticity required of being truly seen and known The role of the outsider is heavy, because they are a mirror too When you embody the outsider people see themselves in you They react with rage, resentment and jealousy when confronted with their own fear. They will dehumanize you, without knowing it comes from a desire to feel truly human too Our work here, in these short mundane and brutal little lives is to find our way back to each othervWhen people die it is love that they reach to remember, as it is what they we are most truly changed by You will find the map is in the deepest honesty you have, once you find yours you can draw it out for others too)
selects from two life drawing long pose sessions at @slicevancouver i am really obsessed with life drawing — i usually draw from imagination, memory & my mind so drawing from reference is a challenge for me, especially short poses & i learn something every time, it’s small things like perspective, angles, form, the way each person on this entire planet is a completely unique collaberation of spirit & body, i like doing it better with friends which is unsual for me! often i like doing things on my own just as much with company if not more solo
some of these drawings i prepped backgrounds to draw over, i have been bringing paint pens, gel pens, pencils, colour pencil crayons, alch markers & trying to pre plan colour schemes & mix it up a bit each time too — i can tell i need to get better at drafting & gesture drawing! seems like a work of putting down perfectionism
