SOMEDAY (The Norns)
A few years ago, i read about The Norns: the three women in norse mythology who “spin the thread of fate” and shape the destiny of humans. This got me thinking about the idea of “fate” and how much agency we have. it has always been very easy for me to say “everything happens for a reason,” and it might! but too often i’ve used that to justify inaction or to excuse being passive. i would find myself waiting around for things to happen because, if theyre meant to happen, they will.
i wrote this song from 3 perspective “here i am, there he is, there you are” as a conversation with The Norns.
a truly magical tour. im filled with gratitude, joy, & purpose. thank you @jaysomband for bringing us on this ride. thank you creating such a beautiful and warm environment - this is a crazy thing we get to do, and its so much fun to do it together. we’ll follow you to the edge of the world!

we made it to Europe! cloudy skies & beautiful cities with the best crew. played Amsterdam last week (slide 5), played Berlin last night next to Berghain (slide 13) and heading to Paris now! if youre in Paris, Brussels, or London - come to a @jaysomband show! (tour poster slide 18).
what has this album meant to me? well, in short, this album saved me. this time last year, i had no clue what my future in music looked like.
then, melina called. what followed was an incredibly fulfilling, joyful, purpose-filled 6 months.
thank you @jaysomband for trusting me and allowing me to be a part of your world! thanks for listening to my ideas, being patient with my neuroticisms (sorry for asking for so many takes), and just being an amazing friend and collaborator. you are such a special person & artist.

here i am at 16, full of angst, hair long, and (like everyone else), obsessed with Paramore. i remember my neighbor driving me to school, playing Riot! every morning. Hayley Williams has been a star my entire life, and I could never have imagined being a part of something together.
last year, melina and i grabbed coffee when she let me in on a secret - she had just gotten back from Nashville where she started recording her new album. an hour into our hang, she played me an early version of Past Lives, and thats when she told me Hayley Williams was in the session and sang on the song. “WHY WOULD YOU NOT LEAD THE HANG WITH THAT?!”
Over the next few months, Melina and I worked, reworked, reimagined, and explored what Past Lives would become. This song has always had a weight to it - an inherent pressure to fulfill its potential. I’m so proud to have been a part of it, im still in disbelief. Melina has a way of making songs feel important and necessary. They have a massive scope, a whole world inside of them. This one is no different!
