Been a while coming this - introducing softform, a film-first visual agency working across the arts.
For a long time, my work has run in two directions: commercial sport and lifestyle projects, and a quieter stream of films made for artists, galleries + cultural institutions , which, outside of a small (and infrequently updated) section of my website, haven’t had the push the projects + clients deserve on my own channels. Each side has a different cadence + sensibility, which never felt quite right to present under the same name. Hence - softform.work - a new space dedicated to the arts side — exhibition films, artist profiles, and pieces shaped with institutions and curators, but also things I’ve been doing ad-hoc over the previous decade; design, creative strategy, roll out & integrating animation. Expanding it into an agency allows the practice to move beyond single films into wider creative strategies and ongoing collaborations.
It feels like a new horizon. Please give it a follow if you’re interested.

Archive Piece - Christie’s - Commissioned to creative concept, direct and edit the promotional films for Christie’s “A Collecting Odyssey”
Fetching over $15,000,000 over 5 separate auctions, we brought together 1000’s of years of different art & artefacts with a mixed media approach; utilising 8mm film, 16mm film, multiple set builds across two shoots in London & Paris to create a harmonious visual approach where each object had a bespoke visual effect and feel, through a combination of lights, camera movement, and a modular set build that enabled us to scale up or down depending on the size of the lot - ensuring nothing felt less important across the film. Pieces included works by Giacometti, Hirst, Perry, Gormley alongside major artefacts from as far back as 560 BC. DOP: Sam Finney @srafinney
Production Design: James Mid @jamesmid
Archive film: Cerith Wyn Evans - The Hepworth Award for Sculpture
Cerith was awarded the second Hepworth Award for Sculpture in 2018. We were commissioned to create profile films for each of the entrants, & with Cerith’s, alongside his submitted piece @hepworthwakefield were able to shoot across multiple galleries, including ‘Radiant fold (…the illuminating gas)’ @museumwales
The completed work , ‘Composition for 37 Flutes’, which created a cacophony of sound that permeates the galleries via an extensive air-pumping sculpture; referencing the Hepworth’s own heating systems, which are part-powered & regulated by harnessing energy from the river in which the gallery sits. The resulting sounds of the artwork, multiple systems, and rivers were reflected around the permanent collections of Hepworth’s own, creating a beautiful sensory surround.
Simon Wallis: “Cerith has been a hugely influential artist for over thirty years, and his recent work has been truly exceptional, extending the possibilities of what sculpture can be. The judges thought that the work he has made at The Hepworth Wakefield exemplifies this through its sensitivity to the site, integrating ephemeral and elemental forces to powerful emotional effect.”
Commissioned by James Baxter & Olivia Colling, The Hepworth Wakefield.
Softform - Archive Projects
Whilst production on new commissions for 2026 is underway, we’ll be periodically posting favoured films from the archive. First up is one for Christie’s - ‘Check Mate’ formed a significant part of a Prints & Multiples sale in London - an exploration of major artist’s use of chess sets as a motif in their work. Commissioned to film & edit significant works from Rachel Whiteread, Damien Hirst, Barbara Kruger & Josef Hartwig, multiple lighting and rigs were set up in a blackout studio to cover the multitude of compelling angles & details within the pieces.
Curated by Stefano Amoretti @stefanoamorettiuk
Creative Produced by Sofie Roberts @sofieroberts_
Camera Assisted by Harrison Giles
Commissioned by @turnercontemporary to create the film for ‘Simone Leigh: Recent Sculptures’, currently on display in the Sunley Gallery.
Extensive drone & timelapse footage supplements original capture of the pieces in situ, providing a visual backdrop to a spoken piece by curator Daniella Rose King exploring Simone’s rich thematics.
Clarrie Wallis, Director, Turner - clarriewallis:
“Leigh’s powerful sculptures speak to Black female subjectivity, histories of resilience, care, and community. Their presence continues our commitment to presenting the most significant sculptors working today while fostering conversations that resonate far beyond our gallery walls.”
