I have a very specific memory of being like 9 or 10, sitting in Susan’s Toyota Corolla (that was full of cassette tapes), and listening to this song on repeat enough times to learn the French words. She probably didn’t care if it got mind-numbingly repetitive, because I was sharing in something she loved.
I wish life had turned out differently and we got to share moments like that in adulthood while she was alive. But I when I throw on one of her old records, it kinda feels like we’re having one of those moments—and I think she appreciates that as much as I do.
