THING took over @movingimagenyc on June 7th 💻💻💻 Bhavik Singh’s “june7.site” explored communal website building as performance. Singh built a website from scratch in a single day, responding to live requests from museum visitors and online participants. He attempted to cater to over 80 requests, finishing 29 of them and letting the website’s form emerge from the competing needs of the community. Through collaborative coding, Singh questioned who participates in the labor and care of software development.

5/ the install @nguyenwahedart feat. milk crates purchased in a sus fashion from craiglist.
if you'd like to experience what it was like, a couple archive videos are still playing on loop on the website thing.tube. we are also having a retrospective on thing in the spring of 2025 @movingimagenyc weeeeee!
admin reveal! i use an app called “one sec” that makes me look into my own eyes every time i try to open instagram. here’s a montage of a few over the past couple weeks 👀
fall came and went. i saw a lot of lovely colors, enjoyed variously shaped gourds, went birdwatching and saw a lot of nice art here and there.
also i merged my artistic and professional websites to just be one - both bhaviksingh.com and softnet.works now point to the same place. its a little change, but helps me feel excited to think of my work at patreon and as an independent artist as part of the same practice. so that’s lovely and nice.
i took a brief pause from most projects to work on some special little personal things with @kate___pam , whose birthday it also was recently. happy birthday kate!
till the next season, be warm, stay cozy
On December 29, join us for NO-THING, a 24-hour stream on the theme of nothingness. Why NO-THING? Because it’s that weird time where #nothing happens between Christmas and New Years. Because the earliest live streams often featured what would feel like nothing to us today: coffee pots, fish tanks, a suburban front lawn. Even tuning into a stream from a famous lifecaster like Jennicam would often reveal an empty desk chair.
We want YOU to do NO-THING with us. We’re inspired by collaborative nothing streams such as Exonemo’s “The Internet Bedroom”, a virtual sleepover where 90 volunteers gathered to sleep on camera via Google Hangouts. As well as Laurel Schwulst and Ellie Hunter’s “World Wide Wind Chime Festival”, in which artists from around the world were sent webcams to collaboratively live-stream their handmade wind chimes.
If you’d like to participate please fill out the Google Form linked in our bio and we’ll get back to you in November with more details. And, if you’re shy, you can always hang out or stage your own NO-THING in the chat.
hi everyone! I hope you had a nice summer :) The air was crisp day today, so here’s an update to celebrate the transitioning of the season.
1. I was pretty angry at all the big social media platforms for a while and completely stopped posting. I missed it a bit though so I guess i’m back??
2. I’ve moved to New York City! If you know me, or my work and wanna hang out lmk :) It’s nice to be here. I’m particularly enjoying looking at how dogs sit and people hold hands in the subway.
3. I also really haven’t had much time to make much art in the last two years. I think that’s changing now which is exciting for me! I’m still mostly thinking about how social software can be slow, intimate and community powered. I’m working towards a show in October and an app I’ve been wanting to develop for ages.
thanks for reading! have a nice week.

"is this THING on?" is hosting its first public performance and salon, Season 0 this Sunday, Oct 23, 7-9PM ET at thing.tube.
THING is an artist powered live streaming platform that will start centralized and be slowly decentralized over 3 seasons.
Come and watch @bloatedandalone4evr1993 , @soft_networks , @fknjpgs and a semi stream on existing platforms - YouTube, Twitch, Chaturbate. Join us for a salon afterwards to discuss how it felt to be constrained by these platforms, and where we should go from here.
wheeeee - p5 in the park!!
excited to be a @p5xjs fellow this year and develop p5 in the park - a curriculum of plein air coding exercises that explore how programming can be used to pay close attention to nature.
if you’d to follow along you can check out the *publicly editable* google doc in our bio
