Untitled project (temp title) 2026 2026 kicked off with my own research project on proxemics, polarities of intimacy and protection in the world of martial arts. Hand gestures became my primary focus of research as hands gesture signify intentions to greet, comfort, attack, protect, segregate, pleasure and more In frame: Preston @wingkinlui Chris @dance_beforedawn Thank you both!! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ Concept and photography @soft.groundprod

Shutter duet @wingkinlui_png I met Preston on his depute performance Sonic Anchor presented by @contemporarymusikinghk Shortly after the show, we met again at para site for Empty set by pratchaya phinthong. We talked about the performance he just did, and of course shutter. I was in a limbo state to capture water fountain with flashing lights, silent shutter captured noises and frequencies of flashing lights. Preston suggested to have silent shutter off, so.. my photo was perfectly capture with mechanical shutter and a clear digital click sound. Few days ago, I saw Preston’s socials recap sound jam and replied : 影相唔叫! Well, the rest is what we showed in the past two posts. I wasn’t expecting much from trial, admiring the fact that I had little knowledge about Ableton, mixer and sound mixing at all. We started the long walk to capture liminal space in a deserted matrix of highway, railway, village houses, cyclists, and people walked their dogs late. We were progressing slowly en route with our active shutters till we got to the bridge Preston drove by frequently. We had contact mic sticked to camera body to capture the sound of mechanical shutter (shout out to Tim! @tim_footage ) and began experimenting shooting with live, altered shutter sound. At first I didn’t know what to do with my camera when it transform to a device to make shutter sound, the experimentation slowly turned to the usual exposure triangle, shutter speed control time needed to produce shutter sound. Most of the images were blurry, out focused and repeated, these seemingly redundant image transform to sound waves palpable by auditory senses. Interesting project to start reflecting on sound and realm of visual world.

Shutter Duet: The Photographic Score 📸🎼 with @soft.groundprod @wingkinlui_png ‘s photos These images are the visual counterpart to our sound jam—each one a direct result of a triggered “note.” The camera settings became musical parameters—the exposure time shaped the “envelope” of each notes—short exposure for staccato bursts, long exposure for sustained, blurred trails of light and motion. Every technical choice pulled between sound and image. Auto-focus delayed the shutter, interrupting rhythm. Manual focus allowed flow, but required conscious timing. No focus gave the most immediate sonic trigger—but surrendered visual control. A “normal” shutter speed yielded a familiar click and a typical photo. A ridiculously fast shutter sounded sharp and bright, but produced a near-black frame. A slow shutter stretched the sound of the release, and smeared light into ghostly forms. Here, photography isn’t separate from sound—it’s its parallel language. The same gesture that produced a pitch or a reverb tail also produced a still image, blur, or sequence. 1-4. Our stage 5-7. Passing cyclist and bus 8-13. Shutter exchanges 14. Capturing the recorder 15-17. The sheet: a visual score of our jam: repeated frames, varied exposures, and exchanged rhythms.

Shutter Duet 📸⚡🎵 Location📍 : Fanling The camera as an instrument—where photography and sound collide. In this experimental jam, @soft.groundprod and I turned our shutter clicks into a live soundscape. After Sonic Anchor, we met through a conversation about mechanical shutters. So when we decided to jam, I have this idea to use our most familiar tool—and its most distinct sound—as our instrument. Contact mics (DIY by @tim_footage ) taped to our cameras → Ableton Live → a duet of processed sound. Full video on my YouTube (pressthebuttondotpy)

ЯE/VEЯ/SEE Behind the scene -
A week ago, we began installing the four sets of work at CRASH @crash.a.space . The gallery turned into a dark space, segregated from daylight and scenery with PVC stickers (and that took quite a bit of effort and time to install 🥲). We hope this exhibition brought you an unconventional viewing experience and cozy space to contemplate how images are created, consumed and produced/reproduced. Thank YOU for visitng our show, ЯE/VEЯ/SEE and we look forward to seeing you very soon in upcoming projects and exhibitions! Special thanks to Jared @jared.poodle and 老燒 for helping us with the set up and documenting our time at Crash.

Departing from normative presentation of image with single layer of image, the CMYK printed images explore possibility to deconstruct printed image from its medium, leading up to new vantage point to interpret image. ЯE/VEЯ/SEE //artwork information// Ray Leung @aray_bw0203 A Grander Sight 《欲窮千里目》 2025 Instax Square Instant film, beach chair, plastic grass mat, torch Dimension variable A Grander Sight staged a scene mimicking an outdoor picnic, paired with a sky shot with instant film (Instax Square) suspended up at the corner of the room. The original closeness and intimate experience of viewing instant films is subverted. A Grander Sight evokes a thorny viewing experience, and reflects on the consciousness of looking in an image-omnipresent era through providing an unorthodox perspective of looking. ЯE/VEЯ/SEE //artwork information// Ray Leung @aray_bw0203 A broader vision 2025 Instax Square Instant Film, Spray paint on high density foam board 86 x 72mm each (Instax film), 400mm x 600mm Foam board A Broader Vision features a series of self-referential images of instant films documenting the images development process of instant film. The instant film image being unalterable implies that the creation process must be well-thought and well-planned, as opposed to the ever-easier photo editing process which allows huge room for post-production adjustment of images. The series showing the progress of images development also reminds the artist an incident, where a friend’s kid looking with great concentration at the instax film, waiting for the seemingly “magical” appearance of a photographic image. This “excitement” about photography seems long forgotten and distant, this self-referential series might serve as a reminder of to all image creator/consumer that images still could induce pure amazement. ЯE/VEЯ/SEE //artwork information// Jeremy Cheung @rambler15 Found in Kam Sheung Road 2020 Medium format film strips 835 x 62mm each Cheung depicted an Introspective photographic work produced in the summer of 2020, originated from rare mechanical error while he embarked on a train trip from Tsuen Wan West to Kam Sheung Road with his Hasselblad 500C/M. An expired roll of Ilford Delta 3200 Black & White film was loaded in, but after he took all the shots, he realised that no images were captured on the film sensitive side due to the mistake of reverse loading. Cheung contemplated memories of the locations he visited and sketched crayon frames in sequential order in a manga-like storyboard. The work Found in Kam Sheung Road contests liquidity of human memory through recreation of sketched images on the back side of film.
