Performance with @nurse_the_universe 30th Apr. “A speculation on technology, myths and histories with feminine figures in powerful constellations. The story is being told by three Sea People, each delivering their own monologue in separate acts on different screens. …A strange sound has caused the locals to have amnesia and lose their sense of balance. The place is in a declared state of emergency. The beach resort is taken over by a group of queer Sea People opposing a newly arrived military. The military has been training dolphins as coast guards and is moving on to test exoskeletons on the Sea People.” Supported by @statenskunstfond og Kulturudviklingspuljen (Aarhus Kommune). seems strange to open a show now, heavy feelings these days, checking lists of which houses got hit daily. At my babushka’s request to keep going, while she’s in a basement sheltering, this show opens tomorrow. absurd. Yet very thankful to @beatecegielska and the sweet team at @galleriimage that made this week bearable. If you find yourself in Aarhus the opening is 4-6pm, 11th march. Running until 1st may 2022. Performance with incredible @nurse_the_universe 30th Apr. I think it channels some of this anxiety, blindness of nuance and barred from power. Thanks to @saragronborg for being the best carpenter possible. And to @biancabiancabiancahlywa , @ju.kalil for voices. Hope to see you there, if just to figure out how to aid the people of Ukraine the best way possible. Here, a snippet from the press release: In our rapidly changing world, more and more species are becoming extinct. A few of them are thriving, however. One of them is the fox, which we meet in Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger’s exhibition 21st Century Fox. We recognise this predator from fables and fairy tales as being particularly cunning. From biologists, we know it to be a highly adaptable animal. In the artist’s version, the fox is depicted as being just as changeable as the world itself. We are not talking about one fox, but about a diversity of foxes. There is the wild fox in its natural habitats, the urban fox, the tame fox, the domesticated fox raised for breeding and the genetically-modified fox. There is the fox that is hunted by riders on horseback with hounds in the UK, and the fox that is worshipped as a deity in China and Japan. There is the fox as we humans imagine and depict it, and the fox as it imagines and presents itself.
