𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩, opens today at @tamariskcountryclub ! Curated by American Art Critic and Educator, David Pagel.
This exhibition included 53 works by 15 artists like @merionestes , @geraldclarkeart , Lari Pitman, @jackpierson9 just to name a few..
I’m excited to be a part of this exhibition and feature work at such a beautiful location in Rancho Mirage, CA.
“MISMO”. My large scale art installation at @coachella of paisleys, which are constructed with wood and range in height from fourteen to eighteen feet, read like double-sided paintings and are painted in bright, bold colors to contrast with the desert’s muted and pastel tones. The sculpture in the center of the garden has a platform with large steps where festival goers can meet and relax — and possibly glimpse models wearing Mucho clothing. #coachella #coachellaartinstallation #largescaleart #publicart #artinspiration #paisley #sculpture #mural
10 Things People Don’t Tell You About Being a Full-Time Artist💅🏽
1. Helping other artists achieve their goals also helps your own practice, builds discipline, and helps you discover things you didn’t know you knew how to do.
2. You need a headshot.
3. Collaboration! Get used to working with other artists and fabricators. It’s all about great communication and strong relationships. It’s supposed to be enjoyable.
4. You never know who’s watching. Keep producing, and don’t be afraid of what “they” will say. Not everyone can do what YOU DO.
5. You’re going to be asked to do public speaking…a lot. Thankfully I like it. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be funny.
6. Be upfront with clients: **Quality, Speed, Cost.** They can only pick two.
7. Exposure is not income. Get paid for your creativity and time. The right clients won’t make it complicated or dangle the carrot.
8. Part-time jobs are not bad. Those skills will always apply to your practice.
9. Get a mentor. I can’t thank mine enough for helping get my head in the game.
10. Rejection is God’s protection. Everything works out in a way that ultimately makes your life better. And art is essential…so we will always have a place in the job market.

MUCHO
There are some cycles that need to break and some to keep. I used to paint on manteles from the fabric bins; mmmkeep. I used to work myself to exhaustion questioning my worth; for sure break, it’s not that serious.
I like looking back at this painting from 2018, and remember what has and hasn’t changed. Boys still get paid more for half the labor; oof that one’s still a real doozy.

In Nov 2019, my mentor @phillipksmith3 opened up his studio to not only push me to create a new body of work, but to exhibit a Solo exhibition in the Desert. Till this day, this show has completely changed the way I view myself as an artist. There is something really special and life changing about someone supporting and cheering on your dreams, when it was hard to view myself as a “real” artist or what I made could be valuable. AND on top of that, offering real opportunities and sharing the cake.
Art is Hard.
It’s very personal, and the most vulnerable thing to do…
“Here look at this thing I made from a severely traumatic thing that happened to me… uhh ok how much is it??”
lol the whole thing doesn’t make sense, but it just is.
I just wanted to put this on my feed as a token of my appreciation for good mentorship and how important it’s played a role in my life. But also to show off this life changing exhibition that happened in 2021.
