Exciting news! 🌟 Directors Talk: We’re now live and will be promoted at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival! 🎬 In the interview, I explain my filmmaking process, the impact of artificial intelligence on cinema, and my upcoming films: the 1940s film noir “The Fatal Dilemma”, which is currently in post-production, and the vintage-style psychological thriller “The Other Side of the Lens”, which is in pre-production with principal photography starting over the summer. Many thanks to the amazing cast and crew of both projects, the Editor-in-Chief Michele Diomà @micheledioma and the rest of the Wild Filmmaker team for this fantastic feature! 🙏 Read the full interview here: /directors-talk-sofia-mavrou/ #cannesfilmfestival2026 #cannesfilmmarket2026 #marchedufilm2026
Just received some absolutely amazing news! @bayofcolwyntc Bay of Colwyn Town Council approved the grant of £2,500 in order to support the production of the Ethel Hovey film! We’re very grateful for their support with this project! The film will preserve and showcase local heritage, making history accessible to audiences of all ages and particularly inspiring young people to discover more about their town’s past. To enhance school engagement, the project will build on the Hovey Project resource pack previously distributed free to all local schools under the Conwy Borough Historical Association funded by the Purple Plaque/Town Team UKSPF initiative. The resource will also be hosted on the Colwyn Bay Heritage Group’s website making it freely available to schools, youth groups and community organisations. If we are successful with the second round of our planned funding application, J&M Film Productions and Colwyn Bay Heritage Group will have their first fully funded short film! 🥳🥳🎥
So here I am as Sylvia the shy, awkward teenager with the rest of the cast in “In by the half” by Jimmie Chinn produced by Colwyn Abbey Players for the Conwy One Act Festival! Really enjoyed it!
