’m the wound and I’m the weapon‘ brings together textile installation and ink works that explore isolation, fluctuating mental states, and the experience of inhabiting a body shaped by pain. At the centre of the exhibition, a suspended net stretches across the space like a deconstructed soft cage. It suggests both protection and confinement - a psychological architecture formed in response to vulnerability, but one that can also isolate and contain. Inspired in part by Doris Lessing’s The Prison We Choose to Live Inside, the net reflects a mental space we build ourselves, shaped by fragility, fear, and the need for protection. The ink works depict fragmented bodies caught between presence and disappearance. They speak to the tension between strength and fragility, and to the ways the body carries both visible and invisible wounds. Through these works, I explore how pain can isolate, but also how the body holds resilience. Together, the works reflect my ongoing research into the relationship between mental and physical experience, and the pain and strength connected to being a woman. “Beneath the Surface” explores the invisible narratives that shape our understanding of health, the body, and resilience. This visual research transcends the personal, using the intimate language of mixed media to tap into broader questions of vulnerability and strength. Through an interplay of textiles, ceramics, abstract painting, and video, it invites an examination of what it means to inhabit a body in flux—both fragile and enduring.
 The works, while diverse in medium, share a common intent: to evoke a visceral engagement with the unseen. Textiles, layered and distressed, become metaphors for the fragility of skin and the scars of experience.
