“Beneath the Surface” explores the invisible narratives that shape our understanding of health, the body, and resilience. This visual research transcends the personal, using the intimate language of mixed media to tap into broader questions of vulnerability and strength. Through an interplay of textiles, ceramics, abstract painting, and video, it invites an examination of what it means to inhabit a body in flux—both fragile and enduring.
The works, while diverse in medium, share a common intent: to evoke a visceral engagement with the unseen. Textiles, layered and distressed, become metaphors for the fragility of skin and the scars of experience. Ceramic forms, with their organic imperfections and fissures, suggest the body’s internal landscapes, embodying the tensions between resilience and rupture.
