Tokyo based producer Toru Iioka operates under the alias Sofheso (@sofheso ), crafting music where experimental impulses collide with linear rhythms in satisfyingly stunted fidelity. Working primarily with hardware, Iioka constructs a sonic language entirely his own—as sensitive as Burial, with Autechre’s dance floor complexity, yet distinctly unparalleled in its approach to compelling noise music.
The sound is architectural: layering drums and short samples into contorting masses of sound walls. There’s deep satisfaction in witnessing each transformation of his performance in real-time. A resident at Tokyo’s Forest Limit, Iioka explores noise-driven club music’s most abstract possibilities through a singular, thrilling vision.
