Porto—one of the most remarkable cities on Earth. Experiencing it for the first time, I was struck by the deep history etched into every mosaic, statue, and stone. As a South African, there’s something awe-inspiring about knowing this was the land of the first European explorers to reach the tip of Africa, the Cape of Storms. You can feel their legacy in the art, architecture, and streets of this city.
Porto feels like a journey into the past, reminding us of a time when beauty, craftsmanship, and passion shaped the world. Today, so much is about efficiency and functionality, but here, history lives on in every corner, from the paving stones to the breathtaking train stations. It’s one of the most romantic, beautiful cities I’ve ever experienced.
The warmth of the people, the richness of the culture, and the incredible food made my time here unforgettable. I took over 5,000 photos, and these are just from the first walk around the block.
