New on SDN The Kings Daughter is All Glorious Within By Tamar Shemesh @tamarshemesh_photography The sheitel—the wig worn by ultra-Orthodox married women—is a ritual rooted in both religious devotion and personal style. Through close access to women from the Crown Heights community in Brooklyn, this project traces the relationships women cultivate with their sheitels as an extension of the self; from the transitional moments of wedding ceremonies to everyday practices in wig salons and private spaces. New on SDN Solitude and Then Some By Keith Dannemiller @keithdannemiller After their camp beside La Soledad Church in Mexico was demolished, deported Venezuelan and Colombian migrants were stranded without documents or resources, forcing them to rebuild makeshift shelters nearby. They remember well what they suffered on the journey to get here to Mexico or to the U.S. There is a real fear of undertaking the odyssey again in reverse. The number of marooned migrants grows by the day. View the full gallery on the SDN website. Link in bio.

New on SDN Punks and Skinheads of New York By Liliana Caruana @liliana.caruana.photography The East Village punk community in the mid-1980s— a highly visible subculture often misunderstood by outsiders. The images offer intimate portraits of young musicians, runaways, and outsiders who created identity and belonging in abandoned buildings through style, performance, and mutual support. The work examines how resistance, improvisation, and survival shaped a self-defined world. View the full gallery on the SDN website. Link in bio.

SDN is honored to congratulate Carol Guzy on winning World Press Photo of the Year 2026. In this photo, distraught young girls cling to their father, Luis, a migrant from Ecuador, as he is detained by ICE after his immigration court hearing at the Jacob Javits Federal Building in New York on August 26, 2025. His wife Cocha and their three children were inconsolable with despair. “It was very traumatic for me and my children,’ she said. ‘They took their father away.’ In a system meant to uphold justice, Guzy’s presence with her camera serves as an act of witness, revealing how that same system fractures and separate families in the most destructive and indifferent way. Her work stands as a powerful reminder of the necessity of independent photojournalism in a time where the foundations of democracy feel increasingly uncertain. This work, alongside many other remarkable photographs, will be featured in our Spring 2026 issue of ZEKE Magazine which will be available for purchase on the SDN website by April 30. Congratulations, Carol! Thank you for bringing urgent realities into view, and for inspiring photographers everywhere to bear witness with the same clarity and conviction. @carolguzy @worldpressphoto @zeke_magazine #documentaryphotography #worldpressphoto
