“Let’s Just Get Married” by @aimeefatale OUT NOW. • On our first day with Aimee on a rainy day in Manchester we wrote this song. Aimee let us in to her world, combining French jazz with 50s Rock n Roll, and allowed us to showcase the sounds of mellotrons, ominchords and of course, wedding bells. We wrote quick, trying to keep up with Aimee’s vision for her project. This song is about giving in to the naivety of youth, falling head of heels for someone, and getting so bored that getting married is the only thing left to do. Huge props to @julesapollinaire for the production and adding some much needed darkness to the mix. More Aimee Fatale coming soon!

‘Who Knew Dancing Was A Sin’ by @elliotjamesreay OUT NOW via @interscope @emirecords • Written with @glenjoyable it was @annielle_lisiuk that introduced us to the world of Northern Soul and the influence it had on Manchester. This song had many different iterations, exploring tape drum sounds and RCAs alongside new bass sounds and filter sweeps with the invaluable help of @nathanael_graham The lead vocal was taken from 3 different sessions and studios allowing us to amalgamate different energies from different days. @elliotjamesreay continues to surprise us with his voices making the bridge something only he could pull off. Huge thankyou David Tobin and @eviekitchingmusic for the amazing brass and string arrangements, @henrybeach__ on bass, @harry.hh with additional guitars, @ashton.miranda and @mikehoughmusic for sourcing the perfect choir, and @neilcowleymusic on the Rhodes.

“Daydreaming” by @elliotjamesreay OUT NOW via Interscope/EMI records • Written alongside @theohurts we chased a new take on ‘Roy Orbison’ while still keeping the instrumentation of Elliot’s beloved ‘Inkspots’. Elliot went to a new level on the vocal performance and listening to him flip between full voice and falsetto was the magic needed to pull off this kind of record. A huge thankyou to the players @gabriellemarieking @rhysjiang @harry.hh @henrybeach__ @neilcowleymusic and also David Tobin for arranging both brass/strings recorded at @rakstudios @nathanael_graham both engineered and mixed this record with @randymerrill_sterling mastering. As ever, thankyou to @elliotjamesreay for his trust, a generational voice with so much more to come. Here’s to the artists. It’s been a year.

‘I Think They Call This Love’ by @elliotjamesreay is OUT Now. 600k streams in 48 hours. Elliot is a generational talent. • The song was already in a good spot when we first heard it, and @glenjoyable didn’t want to lose any of its initial charm from the writing sessions. The key change and showtime ending we wanted to add was something that we were keen to sell the team on, so we mocked this up ahead of our first sessions, with Beatles and Elvis references to show how it might work. What we knew was that we needed to ground the song in musicianship, so @rhysjiang + @henrybeach__ joined us in the studio to lay down drums and bass. @big_fish_rentals hooked us up with a 1950s Jazz kit, recorded through a AEA R44 at @80hertz to get that Elvis inspired mono sound. From there it was about layering tremolo guitars and wonky pianos. @elliotjamesreay would constantly challenge us to create sounds that were consistent with the 50s, so when it then came to singing nothing changed. We chased live takes, often performing with props and distractions in the room. Following this, we would riff BVs together until it felt like a choir. Very little was done in the box and mixing the track felt more like an exercise in taking away elements and choosing certain performances rather than adding FX or EQ. @elliotjamesreay is supremely talented and we’re excited to show the collection of music we’ve been working on together. A huge thank you to @nick Crompton and also @annielle_lisiuk for their trust in us to get this song over the line.

‘Real With You’ OUT NOW from @ph0ebe_hall proudly sitting on @spotify #newmusicfriday • The final song from their EP ‘Stop Before It Starts’. This song took on many iterations from full hyper-pop to more straight up dance. Huge kudos to @samcooperbeats for his alternative version that totally inspired a new production. @nathanael_graham pulling the strings on the mix and turning up the crack choir of @jonny.owen98 @henrybeach__ @ameliagracestokes @olivi4may Eternally proud of @ph0ebe_hall and their commitment to a modern take on pop.

‘What If’ by @miawray is Out Now on all platforms via @ivyleaguerecords • Our time with @miawray last year was special, not only as she has amazing references, but an incredible ability to communicate her story through an insane voice. Thank you to Korda @mushroomgroup for trusting us throughout this process and Ash Howes on the mix.

Co-Dependant is out now via @fear_records_official 💔 Hear it on #nmf uk • Phoebe had wanted to write a song like this for a year. We had the vocal riff from an early writing session and had been listening to the latest maggie rogers record. Phoebe’s drive and ideas never seem to find there limit and honestly she had a huge input on how this record should sound from the bouncing 808s to the live claps. @nathanael_graham thank you for you consistent brilliance and @kevintuffy for finalising the sound. Finally, the choir of @ameliagracestokes @jonny.owen98 @olivi4may @henrybeach__ thank you for lending us your voices, you’ll be hearing a lot more of them

‘hate this part’ by @alessirose is out now • We’ve tried to write a song in 3/4 but never achieved anything like this. Alessi has to be one of our favourite artists to work with, and her voice is becoming a powerhouse. We stacked this full of dbls and harmonies and kept the bouncey piano simple referencing @reneerapp + @carolineplz Starting the song in a session in LDN we finished it in MCR, fine tuning every lyric and sound so we were left with only the essential parts. Alessi is a generational talent and we’re blessed to be apart of her journey

‘Punchline’ by @nellmescal is out today via @labrecords + u can hear it on @spotify #nmf • Nell came into the studio open minded but with a clear vision to combine alternative references with beautiful, soaring melodies. Nell is assured, decisive and a total joy to work for. We had the best time. We also owe a huge Thankyou to @meglearmonth for adding some drum sparkle. Can’t wait for people to hear the rest of this stunning project.
