Devastated today by news of Taylor’s passing. @timber_timbre_ will always be one of my absolute favorite projects, but getting to meet and work with Taylor was beyond a dream for me. I was terrified to have him listening to me try to play anything. He will always be my hero, and I’m sorry Taylor that I said that too many times after I drank too much. I’ll say it one more time. Thanks for keeping in touch with me and giving me something to work towards. DENVER - @fireinthemountains is throwing a gathering at everyone's home @hidive_denver . A bunch of talented folks from the community will be performing in honor of it - with @snake_cessna , @progmistress , @lord_dahthar , and @sequences_in_the_abyss providing a soundtrack ranging from western, to ethereal, to dungeonsynth and hardcore break beats. FITM will be on hand to spread the word about the festival this summer in Montana, run a ticket raffle, give discounts and swag away, and connect people with networks for travel and communication. I hear from so many folks about “id love to go someday”, and we will be there to tell you about how its easier than you think, and maybe more essential. We’ve talked a bunch about the national acts playing the Fest and now it’s time to focus on the amazing artists that are right in our own backyard. It goes without saying that the Denver music scene over the last 10 years has evolved into something wholly unique and beautiful. Every year we struggle figuring out who to add to the Fest because there is just so much cool shit out there in the Queen City. So, with that preamble out of the way, I’d like to take a second and talk about @el__welk . El Welk is the new project from the members of Snakes, Tarantella, and Slim Cessna’s Auto Club. They explore the darker, twangier, reverb’ed out shade of rock n’roll. Existing somewhere between Rowland S Howard, Lee Hazlewood, and Charlie Megira. Ever made out at a funeral parlor? El Welk is a western / post-punk coalition of musicians (mem. of @snakes_band , Tarentella, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club) from Denver, CO that aim to explore the darker, twangier, reverb’ed out shade of rock n’roll. Existing somewhere between Rowland S Howard, Lee Hazlewood, and Charlie Megira, they’re currently working on their first EP. @the_destructors_club explores a long-running passion for post-punk and dub and features collaborations from pioneers of both genres, such as Mark Stewart of The Pop Group, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Big Youth, and Scientist. Backed by players from ground-breaking and perhaps unlikely groups like Bedhead and Sub Oslo, The Destructors Club cover a wide expanse of sonic territory, with both a reverence for the rich musical histories contained within and a willingness to upset preconceived notions.
