The new episode of Queen City Sounds Podcast is my interview with
@scorplings They're playing the first night of Ghost Canyon Fest at What's Left Records in Colorado Springs on 8/21. Been tracking this band for awhile because, full disclosure, my friend Bryon Parker is part of it and he's always doing cool music that's unique and left field enough for me to be interested even going back to early bands like Raleigh, Rebellious Son, Adam Adam and other early indie rock bands most people now never saw because it was before 2010 for the most part but which I enjoyed. Of course he was in the phenomenal post-punk/noise rock bands Accordion Crimes and Simulators. And this is in that vein but more math rock and to my ears like they listen to more than a little Yo La Tengo, Slint and Shellac. They met through music ads and Andres came to Denver from Los Angeles and Dan from Chicago, if memory serves, and they practice and record at this quaint but incredible space that's pretty intimate called Spaghetti Warehouse. It's a studio and rehearsal space in one and we did the interview there. Hope you enjoy listening even if I go off the deep end here and there because I was tired as we did this in the midst of the UMS and other stuff going on but I always think Parker has cool stuff to say and hope you do too.
