Some snippets of our new Grove interactions from @allkidsincludedmiami @the_moss_center a few days ago. 🔊🔊🔊 Inspired by branching structures in nature, we wanted to create audio/visual feedback that could gamify the distribution of light through these nonlinear systems. They are a work in progress, but it is so incredibly helpful to see how kids and people interact with them in space. Each grove is a distinct topology with sensors embedded in each foot that trigger various animations and sounds linked to them. Playing around with some graph theory and particle traversals, we tried to find simple interactions that could promote open play. 🔊POV you lose yourself in Sonic Forest. 🔊 Thinking much more about sound these days after this inaugural project opened in Dublin. We were interested in the architectural spaces of large pipe organs and wanted to create an interactive room filled with pillars that were each associated with a sound. Long Wave got some upgrades for this years Canal Convergence! Now floating at around 330 ft long, this helical sculpture explores motion,perspective, and repetition over large distances. We designed many new animations for this new context, so let us know what your favorite animations are in the comments! Although not quite floating yet…our original intention behind this project was to have it out on water. We love how the relections highlight the chirality of the helix and mirror its animations. We teamed up with @excetera to build a shooting-range-meets-video-game for @coinbase x @riotgames at @valorantesports in Paris. Players formed teams of three to play a 90 second immersive game. Armed with LED bows and foam ball "arrows," teams competed and were tracked on a daily leaderboard. This installation was the most engaging and popular attraction of the entire Fan Fest popup, with cosplayers and video game fans queueing up all weekend to try to capture the number 1 spot.

Back on the road with @giant_spoon and @googleplay for ACL Music Fest, where festival-goers played Road Case Rush, our custom built game to claim rewards. Throughout the day, some lucky players got the chance to play in Showstopper Mode, where the high-scorer triggered the towering stack of road cases to reveal their reward.

Long Wave is officially deinstalled after 3 months in the park. Huge thanks to @rogerwilliamspark for giving us the opportunity to make this monumental work. At 200ft long by 30ft tall, it is by far the largest piece we have ever made and we learned a lot in the process. It will be getting a bit of an extension before making a trip to Scotsdale, AZ, where it will be shown over a canal for 10 days. Stay tuned for more. Recently finished up a giant interactive slime mold for @sloomooinstitute . Made in collaboration with @smooth.technology , this project was a culmination of a lot of techniques that we have been honing in our own work with embedded led systems and pneumatics. We developed pressure sensitive drop stitch pads which visitors can jump on to trigger custom graph based animations along the branching led array. The geometry and patterning was also a huge development for our automated patterning and labeling systems. Every single panel within the network is unique and tapers in diameter toward the top. All pieces are hot air welded and powered by a small fish pump. Still reeling from the energy, creativity, and collaboration at yesterday’s @segddesign Xlab Studio Sessions at TAD! Over 110 participants came together to build fictional theme parks in 3 hours. Our latest project, Long Wave, is now up and running for the rest of the summer at Roger Williams Park! 🌀🌀🌀 Commissioned by @rogerwilliamspark through a @ricommerce grant, it is a 200-foot-long helix that shifts dramatically as you move around it—from a tight, nested spiral to a flowing sine wave. At night, pulses of light travel through the form, tracing cycles of motion and time. The monumental scale of this project has been a very fun challenge, it is made of modular air chambers that are zipped together allowing the piece to be reconfigured or extended as needed.
