Twinkly emo meets folk punk meets gut wrehnchingly grounded lyricism. @who.threw.that went ahead and made an excellent pile of songs, and I think they're his best yet. There are sick riffs, noodly guitar bits, emotionally charged melodic yelling, and a song about a platypus that goes so damn hard. Quinton's really making beautiful music and playing house shows like he's always done, but it's done with such conviction you'd think he would have more notoriety. Rare mix from @loosebroccolini (he's still got it). Tell your friends, emo's not dead. Who Threw That is singlehandedly keeping it alive.

Unashamedly over the top and *dramatic*, Loud Mouth is the song that @emerauld.doesnt.suck was destined to make. They've tapped into that unbridled teen angst that says "don't fucking tell me what to do" and bottled it up into a 2 minute banger. For fans of: having big feelings, having a strong moral compass, being vocal about said moral compass. Thanks Emerauld, until next time!

@emmarosehmusic put together 3 tracks last year, that each showcase a different flavour of her songwriting prowess. A singer-songwriter that has obviously carefully curated her sound, Emma takes the listener a small but intentional journey on her self-titled EP. Lovely and involved, her music delicately deals its message with intention. Mixed beautifully by @harryzeld Mastered right here at Small Steps

Pop genius @effie.isobel has done it again. This time, with a dancy little number. A chronological successor to the previous singles, Peach Heart and Moon Made, Higher Gear unashamedly tells you how they're feeling - yearning, pining, tryna get to that next level in a relationship. It's the opposite of bashful, it's forthcoming and honest, all wrapped in a slick pop bubble. Production and mixing team @carversoundstudio and @bethanmaddisonaudio as ALWAYS, making my job exponentially easier. Big love, effie, can't wait to hear what's next. Don't forget about us when you're internationally acclaimed.

This Point in Time by @elizabethruyi is a song about patience, checking in with yourself, and taking stock of your surroundings. There are few songs that make me think "this is why they invented the 6/8 swing", and this is one of them. Released late last year and mixed by @frankjustin__ , it was a pleasure to master, right from the first listen. Thank you for the opportunity to share your beautiful music, Elizabeth.

A couple songs I mastered a little while back for a lovely indie folk artist based in the UK @old_mercia The songwriting is great, the performances are even better, and @mikecutayar nailed the mix (like he always has). I hope it's apparent just how much fun I had working on these songs, because it's a lot.

One of the few heavy projects that have come across my desk, Live At The Laundrette is a real gut punch of an EP. Perfectly executed thrash punk recorded and mixed by Marcus at @snakepit.studios , it does exactly what it says on the tin, without any pretense.

@space.coyote.music write the kind of songs that strike the perfect balance of ethereal punk and unashamed funk rock. No one does it like them. This track, along with a handful of others, came out a few months back. It's always a pleasure to listen back on my mastering work after a while, because I finally get to listen as a consumer.

Hot damn, it's out already. @ollietregmusic_ really nailed it on his first ever release. Spry and somber, youthful and earnest, Firestarter is an excellent execution of quality in simplicity. Good music is born from a solid idea and finished with a great team, and that's exactly what has happened here. Congratulations on the release, Ollie!

Long time client Aaron @firstclimbers hit me up a couple months ago about an EP he'd been working on. Not his usual EDM stuff, but a 5 song release under the artist name 'trusses'. Always The Love Between is a 5 song debut that's been polished into something cohesive, certainly greater than the sum of its parts. It's moody, intense, and vulnerable, with affects of emo and grunge to tie it all together. I'm growing prouder of my work as I get to master more projects, but it's just testament to the quality of work that comes in. We're always getting better as a community and I'm here for it.

Kayla approached me earlier this year to work on her new single. Someone New is a masterclass in purposeful restraint. It sits firmly in its musical place, somewhere between The Marías and Kali Uchis. Delicate, intentional, beautiful. Wonderful work @kaylaikeeboh and thank you for trusting me with your music. Also a real treat of a mix by @tim_braslavskiy

Local sweetheart @lucasdaymusic knows how to write, perform, and mix a song that feels like one big, cohesive idea. That's the first impression I got when I had this song come across my desk. Rock Bottom does it all, and I'm grateful to have been asked to master it.
