“I believe art is political, and as artists (no matter the size of your following) we have influence. Having that influence gives us a choice, what we say and what we don’t, who we challenge and who we ignore. Art challenges power and right now, we need to be challenging the Israeli government. I’m grateful I get to write this from the safety of my home while Palestinians suffer bombings, starvation and genocide. I’m grateful I have the privilege to make music, to share stories, to create things I care about without fear because so many are being denied even the right to be alive. That gratitude comes with responsibility and as artists ! as HUMANS ! we can’t afford silence. If our art can move people, it can also move truth. And right now, the truth demands that we stand with Palestine.”
