Happy Release Day to the new album from the @theturkeybuzzards !
It was an absolute blast and an honor to work on these songs here at @small_blue_studio . @kentuckyjohnclay jumped right in on drums and it sounded like they’d been playing together for years. We got to explore some fun textures and rhythms and ideas. Dylan and Eric are the best, and this is an exceptionally good batch of songs.

So glad this @donniekbowling cover of “Cinnamon Girl” is finally released, 6 years after we recorded it, and 50 years to the day after the original! Available wherever you stream music.
We recorded this in 2020, at the original Small Blue space (very small, very blue,) in our little bubble. Early Covid, but we all needed to do and make things. I was thankful for Donnie giving us a fun project then, and now, years later, thankful we have that memory, and a fond memory and reminder of Robby Cosenza (@thefangedrobot )’s drumming and spirit.

Ultimately, a recording space is only a conduit for the songs and art that come through it, and so this, and any recognition, is for those songs and the amazing artists I’m lucky to work for and be trusted by.
I’m incredibly humbled and moved when I get to be a small part in the creative act, and to get to be there and help guide the moments when ideas and dreams start to become real. And even more thankful for my brilliant session regulars @cowboy1210 and @kentuckyjohnclay and @znmartin25 (and always and forever for @thefangedrobot ) - whose talent and ear and creativity make me seem far better than I actually am. ❤️

Happy Release day to the new @stripmallballads album, “Everybody Wins!”
This was such a special album to make, basics were cut live with @kentuckyjohnclay on drums (or guitar, or piano…) and @jrmillerwv on bass. Hearing those guys bring these songs to life was absolutely magical. I produced/engineered/mixed.
An amazing crew helped finish the album - @chloe.edmonstone on fiddle and vocals, @lydialovelesss on vocals, @brotherbobsumner and @willyteataylor on vocals. @kentuckyjohnclay played keys and sang BGVs and probably some other things I’m forgetting. I also played a few instruments (steel, some keys)
Finally, @mystery_room_mastering mastered and did a phenomenal job (as usual) with the vinyl master. Get yourself a piece of wax and give it a spin.
I’ve loved Phillips beautiful, dense, poetic writing for a long time and am so glad we finally got to work on an album together. I hope you all love listening to it as much as we did making it. Available wherever you stream music, and pick up a vinyl record on his website!
