We’ve been working together on SM full time for 7 months! 🗓️🫡 This July, SM STUDIO will officially turn one year old, even though our collaborative partnership has predated this by many years. Since meeting at 18 our friendship and work life has grown and tangled together, we’ve organised life around each other, and slowly we've found ourselves here! Living off our work and doing what we love. 18 year old us would be so proud! Of course, there's so much more to figure out. In the last few months we've been dedicating time to think about how to grow in a way that sustains us both creatively and financially. Running your own creative business seriously and making ends meet completely independently is an unbelievable task in such a hostile social and fiscal economy (aka late capitalism). Sometimes we’re shocked at how much we’ve had to learn and scramble around, at how much of this is not ’the work’ we set out to do and nowhere close to design. But this means we can create and mould our own life, a life rich with meaning, making and purpose. Thank you so much to every person who has chosen to work with us, we love bringing your ideas to life and we are grateful every time. We’re excited to implement some newly acquired strategy and operational skills to our work and we have availability for new projects coming up in June and beyond!! Work with us !!!!!! 🌺📥

This week in the studio🫜 Dispatch 03 ⛲️ LATE AGAIN !!🕯️ this (last) week we were back at @londonbookarts printing and binding a publication which we’ll share more info on down the line ! And we sent off a lovely wedding stationary project 💌 it was very nice to be on physical production and finishing after lots of computer work time recently!!! We ended the week with a very heartwarming @the.goal.is.to.eat x @sigla.studio Parlour ❤️

A slightly late 'This week in the studio'!! 🌱🪞🍎Dispatch 2 🕰️ this time we're bringing back the postcard Haft Sinn we sent to @florian__emden last year as part of our 2ly correspondence with @coloramaprint 💌 A Haft Sinn is the ceremonial table setting you lay out for Nowruz, Iranian new year. Nowruz is a beautiful celebration, the new year arrives on the spring equinox, as night turns into day. This weekend (and always) we are thinking of everyone in Iran and hoping that light comes through the darkness. Middle photos are from Safiye's mother's and grandmother's Haft Sinn this weekend 🤎

We designed the @runway_journal segment in the most recent @w0rms.w0rld magazine - issue 11: FAITH & WORSHIP 🌄🌄🌄 commissioned and art directed by @caitlin_mcloughlin_ and the incredible team at Worms !!!!! We loved putting these layouts together. The magazine is, as always, FULL of incredible and thoughtful writing especially Caitlin's cover piece remembering the life and work of the late Fanny Howe 🖤
