What we continue to learn in the 21st century is that we still live among the echoes of the previous one. Songs of nostalgia became part of popular culture. Wars created bridges of displacement and migration. And music kept finding ways to reflect resilience, memory, and survival.
From the Canzone Napoletana tradition, Kurt Weill’s Berlin to Broadway, to post-war songs that searched for hope in fractured worlds, this program traces movement, loss, and reinvention.
Join us on May 23 at 1 pm at Zoomer Hall, as part of New Classical FM, for a live-to-air concert exploring the music that shaped the 20th century.

Introducing Neapolitan Ice Cream: The Musical! 🍦
Inspired by true events, this musical love letter tells the story of Italians who left Naples in the 1900s for a better life — only to be deceived and stranded in Scotland. At the center is a 16-year-old girl betrayed, displaced, and determined to rebuild anyway.
This isn’t preservation of sounds of the past. It’s living culture where “O Sole Mio” churns from hope to heartbreak, and “Funiculì, Funiculà” celebrates reinvention.
