This past weekend we were a part of the Community Corner at the @queerhockeyhamilton Spring Fling.
We had fantastic conversations on inclusion, giving access to everyone to the game of hockey, and how we can grow Sledge Pride.
We have big dreams and each time we connect with our communities, the better ❤️🏒

Sledge Pride is in it's 3rd year and we are debuting brand new jerseys!

2026 is already evolving into our best year yet and we still have BIG PLANS for the future.
You are safe, you belong, and you are deserving of a safe space. Here at Sledge Pride, our goal is to foster a safe community for everyone regardless of disability, race, sexual orientation, or gender.
Through education and community engagement, we are committed to growing a community for all hockey players, staff, and fans.
TTHE Accessibility Workshop was offered to our community at Gibsons Arena March 5th 2026. We had the incredible @madison__mckenzie guiding us into the world of Sledge hockey; her journey, the rules, equipment and community. We started in the classroom and then moved down onto the ice where participants were fitted with safety equipment, sticks and sleds and then guided out onto the rink. If you get an opportunity to give Sledge a try, we highly recommend it! It felt like flying 🦅 It also helped us understand the athleticism involved in Sledge, and how to identify and help remove barriers to accessing the sport!!!

Earlier this month we coordinated with @tthehockeytournament and @parahockeybc to bring para hockey to the BC Coast.
Participants got to try para hockey and hear about the importance of accessibility from one BC's own @madison__mckenzie
There is no better way to educate and brainstorm how to grow accessibility than truly experiencing it firsthand. Getting our able-bodied allies in sleds truly gives people perspective and space to understand.
Sledge Pride will be in Hamilton next with @queerhockeyhamilton at their Spring Fling April 11th and 12th.

Sledge Pride legacy jerseys are up for grabs!
We will be revealing our new jerseys soon and we are giving our fans and community a chance to own one of the first jerseys that started Sledge Pride 🌈 🏒
What we have available are jerseys in sizes small, medium, large, and goalie.
How much? We are selling them at cost ($150) as Sledge Pride will always continue to be a non-profit and funds will always go right back into providing more events and opportunities.
Shoot us a DM if you are interested OR we will be at this weekend's London Blizzard para hockey tournament Jan 16-18 at the Westeen Fair arena. Claire Buchanan, our co-founder will have jerseys on hand!

Sledge Pride had some big moments in 2025!
We headed to the west coast for the first time and was overwhelmed with the amount of love and appreciation we were shown for being there.
At a time when showing up and being that representation for others was so important, we were proud that we could give a space for others to feel seen. For so many, showing up in a space like hockey can be scary but Sledge Pride was made to give safe spaces for para hockey players and allies to connect and play.

The Toronto Pride Hockey Tournament was invested in us from the start. We were graciously invited back and we're able to get tournament participants on the ice and in sleds with help from Para Sport Ontario. Our goal is to provide a space for more para hockey players to feel comfortable being themselves but being able to connect with able-bodied allies makes the experience so special and helps grow the game.
2026 is already building to be another spectacular year and we have some exciting news to share in the new year!

It's been a while since we have taken to the ice. We had an incredible time at the Toronto Pride Hockey Tournament @torontopridehockey
This is a call for athletes for an event in collaboration with the Shine Foundation @theshinefoundationcanada
We are looking for a minimum of 10 athletes (2 goalies). Must have your own equipment.
Join us in showcasing para hockey, creating inclusive spaces, and supporting individuals with disabilities.

Flashback to our favorite way to kick off Pride Month!
Our second year at the Toronto Pride Hockey Tournament gave us the opportunity to not only showcase our sport and our message but also to give people the chance to try sledge hockey for the first time.
It was all smiles and a bit of humbling as the participants got to see how skilled our sport truly is.

Thank you to @torontopridehockey for hosting us again this year. We switched it up and gave participants of the Toronto Pride Hockey Tournament to get in a sled and try para hockey. It was a blast!
