What started with a Coffee with a Cop event in @slcdistrict5 this morning led directly to productive conversations about boarded problem properties in the neighborhood, to a neighborhood visit, and then more good talks with neighbors about what they’re seeing and how to report it. Nice going, @slcpd ! Ballpark neighbors are grateful for your support and willingness to show up and listen.

We understand that it causes some disruption in normal traffic routes but appreciate all the patience

SLC 911 received a call reporting a stolen cell phone from an apartment complex.
The SLCPD Drone Team (FALCON 2) saw the call in the dispatch queue and quickly
responded.
Within minutes, the drone team was able to locate the suspect still outside the complex and provide a live link to the drone feed to the officers in the field.
With the information provided by FALCON 2 and the live link of the video feed, responding officers were able to develop a plan to safely take the suspect into custody.
The stolen phone was recovered, along with drugs, and the suspect was found to have an outstanding warrant.
He was booked for Class B Theft, Class A Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the warrant was served.
This case highlights how drone technology helps officers respond faster, prevent crime,
and deliver justice for victims.

Slow down, scammers create urgency to pressure you.
Verify by calling the official number, not the one provided by the text or caller.
Be cautious of payment requests involving gift cards, wire transfers, or crypto.
Avoid engaging or pressing buttons on suspicious calls.
When in doubt, hang up and verify.
Taking a moment can save you from becoming a victim.
