"Pat, that is stupid. It's not gonna work!" That's what then-WWF then-CEO Vince McMahon said when wrestler-turned-producer Pat Patterson pitched his dream match—an annual event that would bring 30 wrestlers into the ring for one chaotic bout that he called the Royal Rumble.
And since its introduction 38 years ago, that ‘stupid’ match has seen 30 men (and, since 2018, 30 women) enter the ring every year without fail.
In a tradition as grand as the Royal Rumble itself, tag team @_yulissamora and @slackhound put on an annual Royal Rumble watch party that is, without doubt, the best way to enjoy the spectacle that Pat Patterson called "great TV."
