CASTING CALL
*Unpaid Student Short Film*
We are looking for two actors for our final year student film.
Shoot dates will be approximately 4 days between the 7th and 22nd of September and a short test shoot in late august. Exact dates TBC.
Veil is a psychological drama that shifts into a thriller as uncomfortable truths are revealed. It follows our protagonist, Charlie, as she makes an impossible decision: to save the life of her controlling partner, or to let him die and finally escape the prison their relationship has become. Grappling with themes of domestic abuse, the struggles of leaving, and above all, identity, Veil asks the question:
When it comes to regaining your self, how far is too far?
Charlie (age 22-26 approx)
Charlie is a creative and driven young woman, who has lost herself over time in her relationship. She put her studies on hold after moving in with Chris and now has become financially dependent on his corporate wages, spending most of her days at home alone. She is determined to regain her independence, but with little means to support herself, is unsure if she is ready to let go of her current life to do so.
Chris (age 28-33 approx)
Chris is a decently paid but under-achieving corporate worker, who enjoys reaping the rewards of his stay-at-home fiancée. He is loud and sloppy but can be charming and witty when he wants to be. Behind closed doors, he is prone to violent outbursts.
Content Warnings:
Please note that there are themes of domestic violence/abuse in this work. There is a moment where a plate is thrown and there is the threat of violence.
The character of Chris does suffer a severe allergic reaction requiring a (fake) epi pen injection.

We are looking for a filming location for our final year student film.
Our film is set in a house (kitchen, dining room, loungeroom, bedroom) with a small scene outdoors at a washing line. Ideally this house would be reasonably open plan.
Tentative shooting dates are approximately 4 days between 7th to 13th of September (possibly some time in the week starting the 16th ) with a short 1 day test shoot in august. All of this can be negotiated to fit around you as best we can.
As well as receiving our undying gratitude, a copy of the finished film and a thank you in the credits, we’ll clean your house after we finish.
