With such elation, and on this auspicious full pink moon, I share my upcoming book cover, You Are Protected: Invoking Spiritual Practices to Sustain Your Energy, published by St. Martin’s Essentials/Sounds True, September 2026. I asked for a tarot cardesque cover, and the cover design artist delivered. The cover exemplifies the essence of the book: magical, aligned with cycles of change, earthiness, above and below, the rose right down the center, and more! This book has been a long time in the making. It began with a two-hour workshop focused on Protection Practices for Spaceholders and has now transformed into a 256-page book featuring various practices, drawing on many protection agents. You Are Protected features such magic from my treasure chest. I cannot wait to share more with you about it. The pre-order webpage and information will be available very soon. Happy Full Moon, friends!

My teacher told me to improvise, and this is the first song that I’ve been able to take his suggestion to heart. And fingers. I suppose it’s no surprise, given that this song was sung to me while I was in my mom’s womb and in church for as long as I can remember. Come by here, Lord. Come be here. Blessings on this hot and beautiful Saturday, and bless the ancestors for weaving through my fingers.

A little Friday afternoon vibe. I’ve improved since I last posted. Practice really does help, and so does falling in love with playing the piano again! Enjoy The Water is Wide!

“I consent to see my mother today because she bore me into being, and for that, I owe her everything. She also mothered me with such compassion, grace, care, and ferocity that I owe so much of what is good within me to her and, of course, all the mothers who have loved me into being who I am now. I consent to seeing this situation as it is, with eyes wide open, instead of pretending it is something other than exhausting and brutal. I consent to finding beauty in moments of dis-ease and struggle, so I remember there is more than what feels horrible right now. I consent to community, oh, beloved community. Thank you for holding me. I consent to grieving because I know grief and love are sacred partners, and I will not lie about my tender heart or the tenderness that is present now. I consent to staying. I will stay in relationship with my mom always, and I will stay here with you until it is time for me to leave my body. I will stay present to this time, the ickiness of it, and the awe. I consent to believing that we have what we need to move through all of this, even when I don’t want to move. Even when all I want to do is sit down in my backyard and breathe deeply. Maybe we can agree to do all of this together.” This week’s newsletter is here. Link in bio!

Friends, Some of you know I have expanded my healing arts services and now offer Spiritual Direction in addition to intuitive and shamanic healing, Akashic Readings, Sound Healing, and more! What you may not know is that I have an office in the Triad, and I am available to see people in person for all of these services. Many of you work with me online. Thank you! Please continue to book online healing sessions with me! The transmissions are powerful through Zoom as well! If you are in North Carolina and would like to work with me in person, please take a look at this beautiful space. It is spacious with many places for healing and contemplation. In addition, in June I will begin offering in-person (individual and small-group) movement classes, somatic practice, mentoring, half-day mini-retreats, meditation sessions, sound healing, and more. If you wish to be in the know about these offerings, please DM or email me [email protected], and I will ensure you receive notifications of monthly in-person offerings. From what my clients have told me, time with me, in whatever healing capacity, be it an Akashic Reading, a Shamanic or Spiritual Direction session, is deeply transformative, settling, and healing. Reach out with questions. Learn more at link in bio. Thanks so much, my dear friend @celestogramme , for playing the client role in the photos. Thanks to @christinerucker for taking such rad photos. More to come soon!

I went to see my mom, and after that, I met up with one of my dearest friends. We walked, talked, saw goats, chickens, a llama, and a rogue turkey, and journeyed to my house for refreshments, and most importantly, a ritual. We wrote down names for the mother, shared blessings, poured libations, planted lemon balm, sang, and summoned the bees (and hens) with bells. What a bittersweet and wondrous day. Isn’t it what life is like, bitter and wondrous? Blessed bee.

This Mother's Day feels different than any other. The person I have always understood my mother to be has shifted. Her essence is there, but her ability to parent and mother me is gone. I know this happens: children become caregivers, and there is still tenderness. Shortly after realizing I was in a grief haze this morning, I received a sweet message from my step-daughter. She wrote, "Happy Mother's Day! We can celebrate tomorrow (because she is at her mom's today). I love you." Another message came in from her, "Treat yourself today." What a sweet soul. She is deeply intuitive, and I feel sure she can feel my tenderness from afar. Whatever this day means to you (or maybe it means nothing at all), I want to remind you to tend your heart. I feel like I say this all of the time, and really, I mean it. Every time. Tend your heart. I send you love from afar. I honor my mother for conspiring with Spirit to bring me into being. I honor her for mothering me with such deep care and ferocity for so long. God Bless her. I honor myself for mothering myself, especially now. I honor all mothers regardless of gender and gender identity and expression. We all have a role to play in remothering the world. Sending infinite blessings, tenderness, and love. Michelle Image: This is from a set of cards I made to ring in the New Year. This one feels appropriate for today for many reasons. See what you see and use it as a divination tool. Description: A white background with the triple goddess symbol of three moons up top. Below is an image of a person with beautiful blue hair, a red, yellow, and orange aura around their midsection, a blue garment, and rings of light around them. Below them is a warrior spirit with wings and an owl atop their head.

I spent hours in the garden today. I walked 2.5 miles while I watered, pulled up the last bit of winter spinach that had bolted, and planted corn, more basil, eggplant, milkweed, and sunflower seeds. I sat with my hives. Artemis has produced a ton of drones, and you can see them all bumbling out of the hive. I love the boy bees. I felt the breeze. As I watered the front yard, someone stopped at the stop sign right next to my yard and said, “You have a beautiful yard.” Right timing. I felt my grandmothers smile down on me because I know they love how I tend my garden. What a gift it is to spend time in the garden. I know the world is a lot. Well, actually, the world is beautiful. I know humans are a lot, but we can also be beautiful. I hope you enjoy the more-than-human world today. #garden #honey #thewisdomofthehive #springflowers #gratitude
