Charlie Brown is right, it may not be much but I’m real proud of my record collection. And boy do I love @discogs for helping me find those hard-to-find copies. Here’s what I’ve been listening to this week! About ten years ago I fell in love with Discogs - I began cataloguing every record I had and in the process I found my busy head calming down. Record hunting has been a favorite activity of mine for years - I’ve always felt at home in the quiet sifting through the bins amongst other folks searching for something to bring themselves joy, too. Whether it’s beautiful ambient, deeply jammy improv or a record that took me legit ten years to find (I’m looking at you @thewoodbros 🥰) - holding a record in my hands and placing it on the turntable is a moment of profound joy in my day. Some instruments you choose. This one chose me. The @moogsynthesizers Minimoog Model D. And I am so glad it did. Over the past few years this has become my absolute go-to in the studio — a track doesn’t feel finished until there’s some Minimoog on it. Whether it’s carrying the bass, adding a melody, or just a little filtered wind underneath everything — it always finds its place. There’s some kind of magic in this thing. It always draws me in. “Special” isn’t quite the right word for it — “collaborator” feels more correct. Six Missing x @moogsynthesizers 🖤

NYC, Pt. 1: surreal feelings. I got to go see the @amazonmusic billboard in Tim’s Square this weekend in celebration of my exclusive track release, “Effortless.” And let me tell you, this is going to be a hard feeling to beat. As my wife and I approached Times Square and I began to realize just how large this was, my knees got a little wobbly and I got sweaty palms. Then I finally saw it and I got overcome with emotion. It’s wild to me that as a New Yorker I got to stand on the corner and see my own face half the size of the building it was on. The moment was experienced with some of my family (some FaceTimed in) and many random passersby. This weekend was magical — NYC was in peak fall form and really showing off. I will always love being in the city amongst the energy and people. Lots of good coffee, foods, long strolls, and good chats. Had a total blast accompanying @lemongracebarnett for the @desnudocoffee Earth Day Sunset Yoga at @lumenkind last night! I think I found my “context” for performing live. This was so lovely. And relaxing. I’ll capture better audio next time 😂

The ever present, eternal, Now. Ten years of Six Missing this year got me thinking about time and how it just is the greatest illusion we’ve all agreed to base our lives off of. But the truth is, TIME ISN’T REAL. How can it be? We’re only ever just…Here…Now. My early morning thoughts maybe didn’t come together as elegantly as I’d like, but it’s just a small reminder to you that we can only ever be in one place and that is here in The Now. So get here, now. 😉
