The first show of our new experimental series is here ✨ AYA — Weaving Exploration, a new traditional and experimental music series organized by @shokonagainy in collaboration with @seeseerecords . We’re happy to present our very first volume: 📅 5.27 Wed · 7PM 📍 Nublu Classic — 62 Ave C, NY 10009 🎫 Link in Bio Shoko Nagai (@shokonagai ) has been organizing electro/acoustic music events from 2006–2016, creating spaces for collaboration and exchange across generations of artists. AYA continues that vision — bringing together artists with roots in Asia who are expanding their work in the U.S., a space where different backgrounds and sonic languages can meet. Vol. 1 is the beginning. We’re especially excited to welcome Jihye Kim from Korea, whose visit opens up a meaningful opportunity to connect artists across cultures. Bringing three sets by: @starsineye (zheng, pipa) @shokonagainy (keys / electronics) @jihyekim_drum (janggu, kkwaenggwari) @levi.lu1 (electronics) Satoshi Takeishi (percussions / drums) @yoonakimusic (ajaeng) @sitachay (violin) @thatmadm (guitar / electronics) Curated by @shokonagainy Produced by @eve471_ Poster by @lhl_bicycle #AYA #WeavingExploration #ExperimentalMusic #NubluClassic #NYC

There are days I’m running to the shows, get groceries, play with my daughters, but I guess today is a day I get my tumor removed, and get pampered by my friends and medical team. I look like a proper hospital patient, but on the other hand it’s not so bad. I am constantly reminded of the privilege of staying in your thoughts and hearts. I had quality times with my dear ones with delicious snacks. The blissful feeling reminded me of my childhood sick days when I was getting tender love of my mom and grandma. Thank you all so much for being with me in this journey reminding me that you are in my life and I am in yours. 💗💗💗 The surgery seems to be a successful one and i definitely think the less tumor the better!

My countless Monday nights attending Jason Lindner’s big band at the Smalls was the single most inspiring, emotion and thought provoking music source during my late teen and early twenties. So many legendary musicians in the band embroidered his fluid, playful and truthful music in the big ensemble in such unique ways. Every week felt precious and different. After watching late night shows I would fall asleep the next day during morning classes but it was so worth it. Ever since then Jason has always been someone I look up to, enjoy connecting with and learning from. It sparked so much pleasure in me to see his big band again. It is not to be missed! Catch it, 2 more days at the Jazz Gallery until 11/15 #jazz#bigband#nycmusic#legend

“Life Is Art Is Motherhood Is Art” by @crsnyorg Photo by @arumatikphotography Motherhood has shaped, pushed, opened and inspired my life as human and as an artist in many ways I didn’t fully grasp. I was showered with pure joy, sense of rebirth, increased moments of self reflection, desperation, even deep anger and resentment. As my body was stretched and pulled, so did my spirit and mind. Dear friend and a director of @crsnyorg , @christopher_pelham created this week long series with mother artists to share their stories, creative outcomes, and challenges through their original works and Q&A. I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this. Starting 7/21 until 7/26 @tenriculturalinstitute there will be different performances and exhibitions each day. I will be sharing on 7/26 3pm some new music and performance with my precious little one. I hope you can join any of these wonderful gatherings. It is FREE admission. #motherhood #artist #motherartist #nycmusic
