Nightlife talks about freedom. But we know the reality is more complicated. We’re gathering experiences from FLINTA artists in electronic music to document safety, working conditions and support in the scene. If we want change, we need evidence. Fill out the questionnaire and share it widely. We’re aiming to collect as many responses as possible and create space for sharing after. Link in bio.

@ljvioletmusic (Laura Jayne) is a multi-genre DJ & Vocalist based in London. As a self proclaimed groove enthusiast, LJ enjoys weaving sounds from across the house, disco, garage and electronica spectrum. Bringing joy to the dance is her priority. "This mix was inspired by the many sounds within the House spectrum. Driving grooves, heavy kicks and uplifting melodies always feature within my selections. This mix features some solid classics along with fresh new tracks. House music has been the soundtrack to most of my life. Paying homage to the classics in my sets is a nod to nostalgia and a deep appreciation for the community. I am forever grateful to be a part of Sisu Crew and to have the opportunity as a woman and FLINTA DJ to be able to share a little slice of my music collection with you. Representation matters. In previous decades, I never quite found the spaces to be seen, so thank you to Sisu and all the other amazing FLINTA/ AFAB collectives out there for your hard work! " Link in bio ❤️❤️❤️

Pioneer artist @linett_kamala joined me in the @voices_radio studio to talk about being the first female DJ to play Notting Hill Carnival in the 80s (at aged 15, swipe for the photo!) we chatted about women in sound-system culture through the decades, Caribbean roots, the rise of female collectives ( shoutout to @sisucrew ) and the importance of legacy. You can listen to the full show via my linktree. 🫶🏽 Adored every minute of this conversation. #intergenerational #caribbean #nottinghillcarnival #femaledj

Record Store Day — TOMORROW💫 Every year, music lovers around the world celebrate Record Store Day — and if you haven't heard of it, here's why it matters. Record Store Day was born in 2007 when a group of indie record store owners got together with one shared goal: keep the magic of the independent record shop alive. The first ever RSD took place on April 19, 2008 in around 700 stores. Today it spans every continent. Why it matters ❤️ Independent record shops aren't just places to buy music — they're community hubs, run by people who genuinely love music, not corporations. They host live performances, stock what they believe in, and give artists a real place to connect with fans. No algorithm can replicate flipping through crates. Every purchase goes directly back into the local music ecosystem. These shops survive because of people like you. We asked our roster for their favourite record stores - here's what they said 👇 @nothingventuredvinyl @digvinyl @idlehandsbristol @spunout.shop @rarekindrecords @digbethrecords Now it's your turn - which record deserves a shout out? Drop it in the comments 💜

London-based DJ and filmmaker @moontalkmusik is driven by a passion for building immersive sonic dreamworlds. She likes weaving together dub pressure, polyrhythmic play and percussive textures, anchored in low-end psychedelia and often sprinkled with jazz and soulful flavours. Drawing across a wide spectrum of sounds, tempos, and eras, genre always comes second to feeling in her sets. "This mix captures my current sound perfectly - rooted in UK soundsystem culture, laced with nostalgia, and driven by a forward-thinking, dubwise energy that cuts across genres. In May, I’m launching @dub.merge , a FLINTA-led party and mix series. This set offers a glimpse of what you can expect to hear from the night: deep, earthy, spiritual, and bass-rich. It features cuts from immensely talented producers @miakoden , Beatrice M, and @carre__carre , whose tracks have become staples in my sets lately, and it also serves as a love letter to two of my favourite DJs: @livwutang and @janefitzislost "
