After
@jedportman dedicated research into a childhood staple of mine and the fact it’s Cincy Day. I will jump into this clickbait/rage bait or Ribs.
Growing up Montgomery Inn was a special occasion restaurant. Once maybe twice a year we would get dressed up and try not to get bbq sauce on our clothes. Now chips and their sauce happened numerous times, but I’m talking about their ribs. I would say these were the ribs I cut my teeth on, but they were so soft, moist and juicy and lathered in sauce there was nothing to cut anything one. The meat just fell off the bones. Literally. Now some will say this is their boils rib technique. Now a days I spoiled to have
@peglegporker and
@southern.soul.bbq ribs as my go to.
Recently when back driving through Ohio I stopped in the original location. The place didn’t quite live up to my childhood memories of it. Not bad, just a little worn. The menu was sticky, the bar top was sticky and their service was less than stellar. However the
@littlekingsbeer beer were on special and cold. The chips and sauce were warm and it was looking better under my ribs came out. Not the moist meat I was use to. Great flavor, just over done. Well over done. I didn’t even take the leftovers with me. I did go next door for another drink at the
@vtmontgomery and talked with some local patrons. They too agreed, sadly, that 4-5 years ago something changed. These things happens. It’s hard to keep greatness up. I hope they find it again. I did go by
@krogerco and pick up a bottle of the sauce though. That’s still great.
